    T5 shifter

    Hi Guys,

So the "mystery" t5 I picked up off Craigslist does not have a shifter. It proving difficult to find a stock shifter. However, there are plenty aftermarket short throw shifters out there. Does anyone use one of these aftermarket shifters? Whether it's the $40 eBay one or a $180 unit?

    Thanks!

I bought one of the short throw shifters off eBay. Didn't end up using it for a bunch of reasons. The most important were, it is too tall in the housing area and it doesn't actually seal the top of the transmission. Also the bolt pattern didn't match FFR shifter handle. It's in a box in my garage somewhere. I'll send it to you for free if you want it.

Here ya go. I like the $99 one listed as fitting an FFR. Note that the T handle is just for looks.

I would also put a parts wanted ad here and the other forum as some people go w/ a different shifter position and may have an FFR piece sitting unused.

Craig. I am also missing the top plate that goes on the trans. My kit came with the actual shift lever

I installed a Hurst Competition Plus short shifter, with the adjustable stops.
No clearance issues at all, fit into the tunnel framing just fine.
The top plate I think you mean, is actually a part of the shifter itself, not a separate part. Some RTV and the correct size machine screws, and your good t

    Bill,

Thanks for the info. I will look into that one. I am not converting to midshift, but in your picture it looks like the shifter would be pretty far back. that the case?

    Chuck,

I also have a pro5 midshifter but mine did not come with the shift handle. Did you purchase their short shifter handle?
