    Head light switch

Anyone have an extra headlight switch they want to sell? FF wants $14 to ship one to NC.... Or do you guys have a parts number for a comparable one?

ACDelco D1588. Available at most part stores, although could be special order. Amazon probably has the best price. Just be warned though it doesn't include the knob and shaft FF also supplies with their switch.

excellent. Thanks... I just cant see paying 14 for shipping.... I figured, I could find it cheaper on Amazon and not pay anything for shipping.

A little off topic here but can anyone tell me if the knob on the shaft is removable? I would like to have the heater and light switch knobs to match.

If you buy one from Amazon they can be. You can look at the knobs and pull bars on there, the ones at the bottom of the page that say "users bought these with this switch"

Yes. The knob FF supplies is removable from the shaft. There's a set screw near the base.

You don't have to remove the knob, there is a button on the side of the switch that disengages the whole shaft, install the switch then reinsert the shaft, a lot quicker and easier!

So I have used the button to remove the shaft and knob on my switch. Now when I am putting the shaft back in, it doesn't "click" into place and can be pulled back out. I am assuming there was a retaining clip or something inside that has come loose. Is this correct? Any help or should I just replace it.

It will go back in... you're not aligning it right. Try turning the shaft and maybe work the release button a bit. Unless it's broken, if you get lined up just right, it will click right back in.

Just had the exact same problem with my switch and shaft, I was about to order a new one because I assumed I had broken it. Found the following instructions for the Ron Francis headlight switch which worked for me "If the head light shaft will not re-lock in the switch after removal, the shaft is entering the switch base at a angle. Carefully bend the mounting nut area so it will allow the shaft to enter the body of the switch straight. If the shaft is at any angle, it will not lock into the switch body."

In my case a little bit of a wiggle on the main body of the switch while pushing in the shaft made it lock into place.
