    Sidepipe Option

Can the Coupe be ordered with Roadster style sidepipes?

    Thanks

Not to my Knowledge. Most guys make up their own setup if they want different pipes.

i am sure they would substitute the roadster pipes for the coupe pipes.
    BUT
    BUT
you would have to ask ffr if they would substitute the headers.
    if they would do that
you would have to make an adapter to turn the side pipe up so it does not look to low on the body

Certainly not one to question the great Mark... but ,but,but,... I believe the headers are the same for the new coupe as the roadster?.

I did with my gen 2 but you will need to order without body cutouts as they exit in a different spot. Check my blog for pics

I bought roadster side pipes and then had my local exhaust guy make "J" pipes to my headers.

    Hi, guys;

I am interested in this for my upcoming Type 65 build, but am not sure which parts you are referring to, since there are a number of options.

Will header FFR part # 14858, connected to side pipe, FFR # 13940 work in the coupe, or is this the setup referred to in the thread by some of you? (Doing this on an iPad, so can't seem to be able to import the link-sorry).

    Thanks

the Gen 3 coupe uses the same headers as the roadster with a new style side pipe. My pipes are on backorder, FFR tell me the pipe jigs are under construction still

David; do you mean that the Gen 3 is getting a different type of side pipe going forward? I have a set of Mk 4 side pipes that I would like to use with the stainless headers cited under the part number above on my Gen 3 R.

    Thanks

I'm currently building a Gen 2 coupe and also want to know if the new Gen 3 Coupe headers and side pipes will fit my coupe. I prefer to bolt headers and pipes together rather then sliding one into the other. Will be going to FFR Open House weather permitting with my Roadster. Looking forward to seeing Gen 3 and listening to how it sounds with new exhaust configuration.

Update: reviewed this topic in detail with Dan while at FFR a few weeks ago. The coupe and roadster stainless steel headers, FFR part #14854fits both roadster and coupe. The coupe has much smaller body cutouts for the coupe headers, so those of us wanting to use roadster side pipes will need to address that. What is uncertain for me is to what extent I will need to modify the header/side pipe with a 302 as John and Mark did with the Coyote. I'm hoping that, since the Coyote is taller and has very different headers, that no modification will be necessary.

I could just use the Type 65 side pipes, but, after examining them at FFR, I think they may be more restrictive than the roadster units. Maybe not.

    well n
I went to the open house this last weekend.
as stated here yes the Gen 3 coupe does use the roadster headers.
The new side pipes for the coupes are much better design than the old, and I imagine flow way better.
yes you could use the roadster side pipes on the coupe
    BUT
they will hang about 3" lower than you would want in the opening on the side of the car.
I would also suggest to order the body with no cutouts as the trim will be in a very different position.
