    Oil Pan Clearances

I've looked through the threads and haven't seen a thread on oil pan clearances, anyone have any information on them?

    Stock USDM 205
    Stock USDM 255
    Stock USDM 257
    Stock JDM 207 (single scroll)
    Stock JDM 207 (twin-scroll)
    Killer B
    Moroso regular AL pan
    Moroso extra capacity pan

I could use any help you can provide to help finalize my decision on oil pan choice.

I think the USDM 255 and 257 are the same pan. It "clears", meaning it doesn't hang below the belly pan, but if you add a below-engine cover that goes from the belly pan up the frame toward the rear, the oil pan will hang down somewhat and will need a hole cut into the cover. That doesn't matter because the lower engine frame is higher than the belly pan.

I have heard the killer-B pan hangs down below the belly pan. Not 100% certain of that though. I have the 255 pan.

I have the Killer B pan and it hangs down quite a bit, I wouldn't run this on a street vehicle.

I have spoken with Chris @ KB and he did mention being able to make an 818 specific pan if we could have enough to make it worth the time to redesign and fabricate.

I have an 05 sti pan ej257 I believe and stock motor mounts and it hangs about a 1cm below the square stock from the cockpit frame. I am nervous with this as the lowest point is also ahead of the tire centre point/contact. Which makes the oil pan the first thing to hit

Yes, a good idea to add a skid plate - must be fabricated.

That's really weird. I have the Killer B oil pan mounted to a EJ205/5 Speed with Cusco engine/tranmission mounts and my pan is ever so slightly above the bottom of the passenger compartment.

Taken at a upward angle to see the bottom of the pan.

Almost a flat angle and the pan is no longer visable.

EJ 205, I am no Subaru expert but would be surprised if there is much difference.

I haven't put a straight edge on it but I am guessing 3/8 of an inch below the rear cockpit cross tube.

That's really weird that there would be almost a 1/2" difference between the 2 cars with the same mounts. Do you have the EJ205 or EJ255/E257?

    Just a suggestion to everyone.
If you click on the number in the top right hand corner of a post. Then copy the address out of the address bar. Links will take you straight to the correct post instead of just taking you to the correct page. Below is the link to Mitch's belly pan.

I can see you belly pan dipping down a bit before going up.
