Wink And so it starts (Or I love my wife so much)

I guess I should start of this thread with "I love my wife!"

I have talked with Jerry from Stewart Transport and my Hot Rod is on the truck and on the way. I am the first one off the truck and then two more deliveries in Texas before heading towards the west coast. The two other Texas deliveries are down south west of Houston). He said he is shooting for a Saturday drop off for me.

In the mean time I am getting the garage ready. I have been cleaning and the wife wanted me to put up more shelves in the garage for storage. I have a three car garage with 12 foot ceilings and really only one set of shelves that go up that high. Now I will have several more as I have added two 12' long shelves over my bench and will be adding three more to the side wall.

While shopping for all of the shelf materials my wife came across the tool boxes. She decided that since my birthday was in June that I needed a new tool box for the garage. Who am I to argue with SWMBO? So we went home and I did some research and on Monday I rented a truck and came home with this.

It's a Kobalt which is a Lowe's brand I think. But it is more than what I need right now. It's 41" wide and 63.5" tall and has 20 drawers that can each hold 100 pounds.

Another nice feature is both the base and the top chest have a power strip built in that each have three electrical outlets and two USB ports. Should be able to power a few tools for me without having to run extension cords all over the floor.

Sadly I could not start filling it right away because when I unpacked the base I found a big dent on the side at the bo. I called the Lowe's store and they are sending a truck tomorrow morning to drop off a new one and to pick this one up. I did not want to fill the top chest with tool to have to unload it to put it onto the new one. It's something like 160 pounds without any tools in it.

Excuse the mess in the photos... Between unpacking the tool box and moving everything around for putting up the shelves the garage looks like a bomb went off in it.

I'll still post a build thread here as well but most of the work will go into the site.

We should all thank our wifes more often. Without their tolerance, support, and encouragement a lot of our toys would still be distant dreams. Instead we get to play with grown up toys and do things that a lot of people would never even attempt.

Congratulations on your (and your wifes ) new journey.

Car guy wives are the best. I put my wife first and foremost In everything. And she rewards that by putting me first and foremost. We both get what we want but not by being selfish. But by being selfless. She's better than I deserve!

    Congrats on your hot rod!!!

RoadRacer, I married a 24 year math teacher so she knows numbers and wants to see them.

Thank you we are both looking forward to this journey. She even wants to help build the car and tried to tell me that I could not work on it without her there. That's not going to fly but she will be there for quite a bit of the build.

I wish more car guys would think this way. I have been involved with a couple Corvette groups in the past and was amazed at how many guys would not let their wives drive their cars. I let my wife drive both of the Vettes and she has driven my Challenger as well. I don't think I could let a car become more important than my wife. When we would talk about them not letting their wives drive I would tell them about my first wife. She passed away in 2004 at the young age of 34 years old. I tell them that they should cherish every moment they have with their wife because it can all be over way to fast. I love my current wife but I would give up all my cars and toys to have my first wife still living.

P.S. My car was delivered this weekend, but I'll start a new thread on that subject.

OK, so I have to add to this post. Besides the inventory I still have not gotten to work on my Hot Rod and it has been here for three weeks now. So as y'all know from above my birthday is coming up so my wife got me the tool box. She was not finished though. She told me a few weeks back that I needed to take off Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week but I could not ask why. I trust her so I took the time off...

On Saturday she gave me a note in a bottle and it said that our first stop was New Orleans. We spent the night there and visited a Casino for a few hours and had some great food. Next note I was given told me we where heading towards Biloxi Mississippi. I was thinking that we were going on a Casino crawl. (Kind of like a pub crawl but with gambling and less drinking. )

We stopped to get gas before turning towards Biloxi when she told me that we were not going to boloxi and that we had a bit further to drive. She went on to say that we were meeting our friends, Carl and Julie. This is when she told me that she had been planning the trip for two months that that we were not going to the casinos but was going deep sea fishing. We had dinner with Carl and Julie and got the plans and locations for the next day. We got on a 58' private charter boat with 11 other people that Carl and Julie know and headed out to sea. I think it was around 40 miles out by the time we were done. We had a great time and got quite a bit of fishing in. All and all the 13 of us pulled in 26 Red Snappers and one King Mackerel, a total of 380 pounds of fish.

We came home with about 22 pounds of Red Snapper fillets and 4 throats. I love my wife! She takes care of me!

Now we all have fishing envy as well as tool box envy. Very nice tool box. Enjoy your build. The wife and I also enjoy the occasional day trip to the Casinos in Lake Charles, La.

My wife at first told me that I can't work on the car unless she is helping. If that was the case the car would never get done because she would be distracted wanting to clean the garage. So I told her that I was going to work on it when ever and she could help when she wanted.

But, if she plans a trip like the one we just went on I can set aside the car for a few days. :-)

I was tempted to post on here that I was in the area to see if I could come and check out a couple cars. I saw that there were two Hot Rods on each side of New Orleans. Glad I did not make plans as it would have blown her surprise in trying to get me to Alabama in time.
