Headlights only have to be "DOT Compliant". This means that they comply with the standard set in FMVSS-108 regulations. When the part is compliant, it is simply marked with the letters DOT. Both headlights and replaceable bulbs should be marked if they are compliant. Look at the lens, usually towards the bottom.

From TireRack.com: "The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requires that Tire Identification Numbers be a combination of the letters DOT, followed by eight to thirteen letters and/or numbers that identify the manufacturing location, tire size and manufacturer's code, along with the week and year the tire was manufactured."

Check both sidewalls. Sometimes the code is abbreviated on one side.
