Anyone using the 0-60 function of the GPS speedo?

Curious what times people are getting using that function?
I haven't tried it yet but intend to soon. My wife rode with me this morning. Thought it might be prudent to wait until my next solo ride....although she could take video...

    War Eagle,

My pal and build buddy (Forum Member / Hottrodder427 / Donnie) has the GPS Speedo and is getting 3.5-3.9 second 0-60's.
    390 FE bored to 396 cubes / Edelbrock Heads / Roller Cam / TKO 600 / 3.55 Gears / Independent Rear Suspension.
The times vary a bit, but he's not speed shifting and wheel spin is an issue.

    Hi GoDadGo,
    Can you define "speed shifting"?

Speed Shifting = Shifting just as fast as you would power shifting, using the clutch, but only lifting about half way off the gas.

    Speed Shifting
Shifting gears at full throttle (Never Lifting or Lifting Minimally) accompanied by applying a fare amount of pre-load pressure on the shifter handle so each gear is changed as soon as you do a super quick depression of the clutch. Understand that shifting in this manner is very rough on the entire drive line and it is advisable to have a good rev limiter to keep you from blowing up your engine in the event that you miss a gear.

    Granny Shifting
Take your time between shifts while letting the RPM's drop to proper RPM levels so that minimal stress is exerted on the driveline.

I don't have that speedometer, but do have this: http://www.autometer.com/2-accelerat...ltra-lite.html

    I'm also getting sub 4-sec 0-60 times.

I tried it for the first time with the Speedhut GPS speedo yesterday. Pretty cool. Once you have it in that mode and are stopped, you push the button to stage. It starts the timer automatically when you start moving and stops the timer at 60 mph. (Similar function for a 1/4-mile time BTW.) Interestingly, it not only gives the 0-60 time but also the number of feet traveled. My one time using it was at a corner turning onto a highway into traffic. I staged before I turned and didn't push hard. It was something around 7 seconds. Not very meaningful in that situation, but nice to see it work. I'll be trying it more. Wished I had used it when I was giving charity rides at London last Saturday. But too much going on right then and didn't need the distraction.

    Ray,

Man I wish I would have seen that gauge before I wired my dash!
That is really one neat piece!

Well on my evening ride I gave it a trial run. Frankly I don't think I have enough experience in the car to be at a comfort level for a 100% run in the car nor did I have the appropriate road to try it on. But I did find myself first in line at a long stop light so I fiddled with the button and staged it. I would say I did about a 75% acceleration and clocked at 4.72 and 228 ft. Sub 4 seconds is certainly attainable. I knew the car was fast but pretty cool to see it quantified on the gauge.

PS. My wife was riding copilot. I did not tell her what I was doing and just took off. She was not pleased! LOL

Oh and no fish stories here please. Pictures or it didn't happen. Hahaha

I had before I retired. Was using it to gather data for collision reconstruction work. You can get positive/negative and lateral G's, 0-60, 60-0, qtr mile time and est hp based on weight and qtr mile times. It is really fun to play with....... I used crop dusting air strips on friends ranches in the Fresno/Madera CA area for my "fun"

You can get a pod from Autometer (http://www.autometer.com/2-mounting-cup-black.html) and attach it under the dash.

Does the gps speedo also get a signal from the trans for speed or just gps for everything?

Gps replaces the need for signal from transmission. All done with Gps

Are these the speedos that come with the kit? I upgraded to the vintage gages. This looks like a fun thing to play with, so I'm hoping that's what I'll be getting.

For those of you that do not have the FFR GPS speedo, I downloaded a free app called Ulysse Speedometer to my smart phone. It will give you 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4mile times. Also current speed, average speed, weather temp, elevation, trip times and miles, miles today, yesterday, week, month, compass and more.
Mk4 Roadster, Picked up complete kit 8/22/14. Most FFR options except Wilwood brakes and IRS. First start 11/11/14. Go-kart 3/8/15. 347 Stroker, TKO 500, 3-link/3.27 rear. PA street legal 7/29/15.

That is what I was thinking when I saw the time! haha
Like I said I was only going about 75% and didn't mention it but I was going up a big hill as well. Should be fun to see what kind of time I can get under the right conditions.

I checked my order form. Mine are 16004, which appears to be the same thing, just coded as the upgrade to the kit. I watched the video and Dan G stated the 0-60 times as a feature, along with a bunch of other stuff. Cool. It's like icing on the cake. =)

Yea, that looks like the part number on the kit order form. Plus it's described as the GPS version. The number I referenced was from the parts catalog. If in doubt, you could call them. I'm sure the could quickly confirm if any doubt.

I must have got mine just before they amended to gps! I'm not taking the dash out now!

I would like a 0-60 phone app too, but none of the ones recommended seem to be available in Canada. We have a tough time getting anything here!

Speedhut can convert your speedo to the gps version, I remember it as being very reasonable also had them remove the F5 name from the faceplate.
