    Bit the bullet

Well I bit the bullet and took a spin down Wareham today and ordered my 289 roadster. I'll pick it up on September 9th. Went with IRS and 15” wheels, one lowback vintage race seat and one vintage roadster seat, just like the display model. I'm a large guy 6'2” and the vintage race seat gives me plenty of room. The rear end will have 3:55's which should give good acceleration, while still having some legs.

Motor is the 306 I built this winter with my son. Transmission is a completely rebuilt and beefed up t5 I finished up last week. My current plan is a sort of “racer that never was” done up in a modified Gulf Racing color scheme, even though as far as I know there was never a Gulf sponsored 289 cobra. Now it's just a waiting game.

Congratulations from one 289 FIA builder to another. PaulH and cnutting are also 289 builders who are active on this forum.
