    Wire loom melting ? Overheating

Have a stock rebuilt 302, the headers (BBK) get really hot, hot enough to melt the wire loom only inches above header. Maybe to close ? Also wondering why after I shutdown overflow tank over flows, possible air in system ? Thoughts please, thanks

Not answering your question directly, but I swear by this stuff anywhere near the engine - fuel lines and wiring.. had it all over my GTD40

Headers can get pretty darned hot, like 400-450* near the port. If the engine is running lean or the timing is off, they can get even hotter than that. Check your tune.

If your overflow tank is overflowing after shut down, that is sometimes a symptoms of a cracked head or blown head gasket. Go down to your local Autozone. Borrow their coolant system test kit. Follow the directions, and in about an hour or so, you'll have your answer.

I like this for heat insulation. Nice thing is you can install it onto an existing wire, hose, or cable w/o needing to undo an end.
