    cam bolts

Hi: I hope I am not the only one who had to learn about cam bolts from a auto parts store. I thought a bolt is a bolt and these (cam) bolts looked different. Bill

Some areas require close tolerance (both fit and material) fasteners to keep items together. Other areas are the head bolt and rod bolts, to name two.

And talking about cam bolts, when I struggled with multiple back yard methods for removal (and finally removed them with tools from Company 23), the opinion of some for this 'tightness' was simply the fact the cam rotation over many miles makes these fasteners tighten. I have recently reassembled the EJ255 engine, and I believe these bolts are very tight by design in addition to the fact they are hard to hold for torque. The last 45 degree torque spec is obtainable (at least by weak me) only with four foot cheater bars.
