VSS connector id help needed
My 2002 WRX manual shows the VSS connector as B17 and a square 4 pine conn with 3 wires, GB,GY and BR.
That does not match my VSS which has an inline 3 pin connector with green, brown and white wires. Can't find any online info on 3 pin connector.
Can some one id the 3 wires. Should be ign, gnd and signal but not sure which is which.
Thanks for any help.

My 04 forester xt had these colors
Sensor VSS ---GW-----pin 1---------GY-----ECU pin B27
Sensor GND---BrW-----pin 2--------BL-----------Engine ground
Sensor 12v----GB------pin 3-------GW----------Ignition
My colors in this area did not exactly match my drawings, this was an area of confusion for me also.
Iwire makes a 3 to 4 pin adapter.

Thanks Bob for complete response. A little more looking found that the nat asp version of engine has B17 as a 3pin connector but colors are pretty much like yours but nothing like mine.
Maybe we can figure it out if you hold up conn looking into the front with lock tab on top and wires coming out the back and read out your colors left to right. This will allow me to id by
mechanical position rather than colors which are all over the place. Thanks.

This is the best pictures I've got. I spliced the wires out of the VSS to the wires in the harness.

About a year ago we destroyed that transmissions. I replaced it wwith a 2012 MT5 that doesn't have provision for a vss sensor. I now run a sensor on the front driver side wheel.
