    F5R008667RD graduated!

    F5R008667RD is completed! I received delivery in August 2015. This was my first build, so I want to offer thanks to the FFR help desk, Ford Racing, and Mike Forte, who answered my many questions, and others who posted information on the FFR Forum and FFCars Forum. Thanks also to Jeff Nelson and company from Celina Custom Auto, who did the final body work and paint. Their work was exceptional! Color is (GM 2016 Corvette) Long Beach Red. Engine is a 5.0 Coyote with Tremec TKO 500 transmission, both from Mike Forte. No stripes or hood scoop (yet). I'm trying to decide about the hood scoop.

    The car was inspected and passed in November 2016 in Ohio. The Jackson, OH post was more picky than I've heard other Ohio posts. I will confess to putting about 500 miles on it before inspection, title and license, trying to get the engine tuned. JMS and I sent many files back and forth to get the banks balanced and the stalling issue fixed. Finally, they fixed the issues, and it runs great!

    I’ve had it out enough times to get a common question: “Is it a real one?” My best answer so far is, “No, I don’t have 5 million dollars.” I’d be interested to hear others’ favorite responses to that question!

    Congrats, it looks great! Now enjoy the smiles per miles! That's a fair response to the "is it real" thing.

    PS;
    Is that a reverse light I see in the picture? Is that now mandatory in Ohio? Most in the Lake Snakes Cobra club do not have them, just wondering if I need to start thinking about that.

    Looks great. Nice build. Congratulations! You're just a few numbers before my #8674 also delivered in August 2015.

    For the very frequent "Is it real?" question, this get's discussed a lot. I'm a huge believer in a straightforward answer and save the smartxxx remarks for something else. My answer is usually "No, it's a replica I built from a Factory Five kit." The sign I use at car shows says the same thing in so many words right at the top. So often they get their answer without asking. Most have heard of Factory Five and the conversation is usually very positive. If it's not, just end it and be done.

    Yes, the guys at the Jackson, OH inspection station asked for it. I went with a Mini Cooper single light from Atlantic British.

    Thanks! The wood dash is a Makore veneer from Wisewood Veneer, applied to the FFR aluminum dash. Lots of coats of Tung oil! The wood door panels are the same, Makore veneer applied to a metal blank, also finished with Tung oil, and attached to Levy Racing's leather door panels.

    Thanks! Dash is standard FFR aluminum template with Makore veneer from Wisewood Veneer, and finished with 13 coats of Tung oil. Dash is attached via screws from FFR, along with their dash support bracket.

    I'd like to comment on your car. Fantastic looking. I too plan a special red I have in mind, no hood scoop and no stripe. Yours gives me an idea what mine may look like.

    Wally-

    Car turned out great. I like the custom touches you added, and I think it really helps a car stand out. Your dash is terrific; she finished up nicely!

    Congratulations on getting her all done, and doing a terrific job! I hope you get a great deal of pleasure driving her.

    Regards,

    Steve
