    Mustang GT Rear End Question

So I found a salvage yard with a 2002 Mustang GT rear end. They even have it pulled and it is sitting on a rack and I saw it last week to make sure it was a 4 link rear end and it is. So today I called to ask them what the gear ratio was and they have no idea. It is an 8.8 but that is all they can tell me.

What are the standard gear ratios for GT's? I am not real worried about it unless it's a 2.xx or something really high. The Corvette that the motor and trans were pulled from was putting down 309 ft pounds of torque and it only had a 3.08 rear end ratio. With a little bit of pre-loading I could get it to smoke the 275/40's so with the low weight of the Hot rod it would be fine. I can't get there to check the ratio myself (Turn the drive shaft pinion and count the tire rotations) but I am kind of curious as to what the standard ratios I might be looking at.

im pretty sure all 2002 gt's came with 3.27 gear. The aluminum tag should say 3L27 to verify that.

FWIW,I bought an 02 GT rear too, the details from my tag were: 3.27, 8.8, limited slip, 5 lug, solid rotor, 62.52" wide

Weld the tubes, were I going this route I would have the axles and pumpkin removed, check the entire assembly for straightness and weld the tubes to the rear housing. I'd reinforce the traction box with a plate across the front.
