    Fresh Air Intake

I purchased the Fresh Air Intake from Finish Line, along with the black oval scoops which are to be fitted to the brake intake openings in the front of the car. Does anyone have any pics as to how these are secured to the intakes?

    Jay,

I drilled six small holes in the sides of the "returns" at the oval openings in the nose of the car (three per side of each hole) and then used #6 stainless steel button head screws to attach the black scoops to the inside of the openings - I also installed some expanded aluminum screen between the scoops and the body with those screws passing through the screen, securing everything really well. The hose / tubing is then held on with simple worm-drive band clamps.

The screws are somewhat visible in this pic.

    Later,
    Chris

    Chris,

That's a great idea. I removed the front splash guards yesterday to apply 2 heavy coats of body undercoating (to quiet down stone pinging) and thought I'd tackle installing the front scoops. Everything is quite accessible and your method looks neat and clean. And, the SS screws add a little bling.

Jay - Even better.... the original cars had their outer aluminum skin rolled over the edge there to form the brake cooling ducts and then it was riveted to a metal hoop behind the bodywork - here's a pic of an original 427 S/C car with the rivets. So, I can't take credit for my method... I was just trying to give it a little originality.

You should also be able to use silicone to bond the scoops to the opening. I use the oil cooler duct for the CAI & the brake ducts for cockpit cooling.

Kevin, I love the color, should be close to the one I've chosen. I have them in as I did it today using Chris's method. They look great.
