    Picture hosting/posting test and question

    Hi Guys,

My kit is supposed to show up Monday or Tuesday, so I thought I'd better get my picture posting ducks in a row. First off this is a post to test photobucket. If the pictures work below...then it works. Secondly, I was curious what everyone is using to host their pics nowadays. I was thinking of switching from photobucket if there is something easier. Any advice? Was considering google. Any one else use that for picture hosting?

While posting these pics I noticed Photobucket is pretty slow and is loaded with pop ups. I prefer not to deal with that if I don't have to. I'm still on the free account and don't intend to pay for any photo hosting.

Here's my picture test. Let me know if it works...
This is from several years back when I was into RC monster trucks (the last time I did a lot of picture posting, that wasn't on Facebook).

I like to post the large size pictures that you don't need to click on to enlarge. Can you do that directly?

How do you post them directly?

I use the larger pics in my posts, and all the pics are hosted right here on the F5 Forum.

I keep my pics at 1000pix or less wide, usually about 800. That seems to be a nice size to see easily, but not kill peoples download speeds.

Use this ref by our Forum Master to upload your pics to the Forum, then insert them into posts. It goes quick once you've done it a time or two.

I do not see a pic in your first post.

Also.. don't .. please.. don't use PhotoBucket.. their new policy has broken forum web-sites across the interwebs. You cant see any "DIY" threads any more.. as 90% of their pics no longer link.
If you're posting in here.. put the photos directly into this site.
Another option.. is to put them into your Google Drive.. or DropBox, or even AmazonCloud account, and generate "share" links from them.

If you want to post large pics, I would post them to your albums and then copy from there...my experience with photobucket worked fine until I had about a years worth of pics on there and then they said "pay us 200 or 300 bucks per year", I didn't pay and then all my pics are gone and not viewable. I post mine to my albums and then go from there and the large pics work fine. I'd stay away from Photobucket...just my opinion.

I also recommend against photo bucket. Two years of build log & nearly a hundred threads rendered useless, and that's just me.

I now use Flickr. I went with an external site for two reasons: I don't want to resize each and every photo, and I can share photos to multiple forums using the same process.

Thanks for the input guys. I've seen the Photobucket error signs on a lot of other people's posts, so I assumed there could be some problems. I didn't realize that there is a way to host the pics on this site. That seems like the best way to make sure they work. However, if I have to resize every picture manually, that sounds like a bit of a chore. I'm going to read the picture posting instructions above and try it out, so I can get a build thread started. Thanks!!!

Dave posted some excellent Flickr instructions on the other forum: http://www.ffcars.com/forums/43-off-...um-flickr.html

Both FFCars and TheFactoryFiveForum have their galleries set up so that you can use them for posting to other forums using the [IMG] tag.

If for example you are like most here and just post at the various cobra forums you can use your gallery for posting to all of them.

Most forums don't allow html in their posts so you normally can't use the <img> tag but the images are still addressable via URL so I think they would work in html if needed.

Looks like you're ready to go, just make sure each pic is less than 2MB is size and no more than 1900X1900 total pixels.

Also I believe the current limit on pics per album is 500. If you run out of room just add another album.
