Wipers! FFR wiper kit or ?

I'm in SC, and cars don't need a windshield to be titled/driven/registered. If they have a windshield though, they need a mechanism to remove rainwater.

I'm ordering an 818c and the FFR wiper kit ($275) I'm sure fits the bill. I have also seen a few other references in these forums to using a single wiper (like McLauren and Mercedes).

What is the current thinking regarding the wiper situation?

What did you do? What would you do next time? In your experienced opinion, what should I do?

there are hand operated wipers that clamp to the windshield that will pass inspection.

Just about everyone here is not good at coloring within the lines, so there are lots of ways windshield wipers have been added to the 818. I adapted the donor wiper mechanism to a 1-arm, others have made 2-arm donor systems, 2-arm Factory Five system, Forma system, hand-operated and others. Crack a beer and read these:

I don't like the way FFR cuts away the hood to use their wiper system.
I did the single wiper method by just eliminating the second wiper from the WRX mechanism.
Its detailed in my build thread.....take a look.
I'm never going to drive it in the rain.... but it functions like it could.

    Thanks for the help!

I think I'm going to pass on the FFR wiper kit and go with a modified mono-arm setup like you guys seem to have had success with. What a fine adventure!

I used the mercedes benz mono wiper. It took some welding and some modification of the mercedes wiper crank arm, but I think it looks great and covers the window nice too. In the video a light silver line drawn on the windshield shows the coverage.

    Good luck!
