    Gen 3 Coupe Air Cleaner

I've done a little digging on the forum for the air cleaner that will fit my coupe and haven't come up with any part numbers yet. Does anyone have a filter setup known to work? 351W, performer rpm intake, quick fuel carb. So far my selections either hit the firewall, the distributor, the hood or the needle & seat adjusters. Thanks.

A friend of mine has a GEN-1 Type 65 with 351 Stroker (392) Motor in it and hood clearance is not an issue.
If it fits the Gen-1, then I think it will be A-Okay with the Gen-3.

He's got a Spectre 14 X 3 air cleaner, like the one shown below which fits fine:

Just know that he is NOT running RPM manifold, but opted for the the Torker-II (#5081) since that intake has the lowest flange height.

The car is so light that you can get away with running a single plan manifold as long as your cam, heads, compression and gearing are in line.

    3.55 - 4.75 Torker II #5081

    4.30 - 4.90 RPM Regular #7181

    5.31 - 6.19 RPM Air Gap #7581

    Hope This Information Helps!

I've got a dual plane and the engine builder told me it is only 1/2" taller than other intakes. I think I have that Spectre filter in the drop version and it hits the distributor. If it was just an inch or two smaller in diameter it would be perfect, but then probably hit the needle and seat adjusters.

In the interim, you may want to just pick up one of those old Edelbrock Triangle filters just to have something to keep the bugs and dust out of your carb. Just make sure you pick up a few extra replacement elements and check them often since they tend to break down over time.

Hope you fund a viable solution.

That's the filter I have, and it works well plus takes up little space.

I used an Edelbrock Performer (not RPM) dual plane manifold on my 422" Windsor in my Gen 1 coupe. Standard Stelling & Helling air cleaner with "filter top". Had about 3/8" clearance on the hood. In my personal experience, the Torker 2 is a misnomer. It is a single plane, short runner manifold and has very low performance below 2,000 rpm. The dual plane Edelbrock Performer manifold had great low end torque but ran out of breath above 5,000 rpm.
