    I finally got burnt. Literally.

I promised myself it would never happen to me. I tell anyone before they get in the car, watch the side pipes, they are hot. Last Thursday night I take the car out for a drive as I was leaving the next morning for a week out of town. I pull into a Starbucks for coffee before heading home and as get out, my bare right calf hits the side pipe. (it's SWFl so it's shorts every day) it was a quick sting no biggie. I actually forgot about it because it wasn't a big deal until two days ago in the hotel when my leg was hurting. I won't get graphic but I'm going to the doc tomorrow... feeling pretty stupid. Looking at the list of the rest of the things that will never happen to me, getting caught in the rain, the tow truck ride of shame....
    Gotta love these roadsters.

Ouch for sure. But remember, you aren't alone.

I am a little slow. I have burned my leg twice so far. I bet I can get a refund on my college degree if I send in a couple of pictures and a letter explaining my situation.

    Time for heat shields?

First & only burn was a StingRay stinger in 1968. Was not able to get shields for it but did have shields for the COBRA before it was finished.

My first build bit the crap out of me, then years later my brother build did the same thing!

It's not if you'll get bit, its when!

My first one got my mom and girlfriend at the time. This one got no one yet.

Years ago, I built a t bucket. Went to a popular cruise spot one night. Had a kid there kept playing and banging on the sidepipe. Asked his mom to have him stop. She impolitely said “he ain’t hurting nothing”. But she did walk off with him after telling brat nothing. (I’m sorry, I’m huge on making sure your kids keep their booger hooks to themselves around cas, and I have slapped mines hands for exactly that). Fast forward an hour or so, I took someone for a ride. Come back and park same place. Brat comes back with mom. I wasn’t watching (I never would let a kid hurt himself severely) as brat decided to go back to touching and playing with pretty chrome side pipes. Well, he’ll never touch one again, for sure. (This was ~20 years ago). They left there to take him to the doctor. I felt pretty bad for the poor kid. But felt worse for the kid for having idiots for parents.

Ok David, here you go, but it's pretty graphic!

Saw the doc today. Gave me Silver Sulfadiazine cream and said it will heal fine. He also said "Step over the pipe!" Lol

It looked like nothing when it happened. I forgot about it. 5 days later in a hotel out of town and suddenly it looks like this.

    Nice StingRay!
My wife suggested shields. I need to get my Russ Thompson turn signal mod installed as well as the Simpson sub/crotch belt installed first.

What is funny is that I kept reminding my wife about the pipes and here I'm the one getting bit.

Svtfreak, that's how some kids need to learn unfortunately. These days, you would have been sued.
