What will the new car be that is based on the 65 coupe?

In the Hotrod magazine article, there was mention of a future vehicle based on the 65 chassis. Has there been any more hints or info on this new vehicle?

“This chassis that now underpins the Gen 3 Type 65 will be used in its next flagship supercar that hasn’t yet been unveiled”

I saw that as well. I am very curious what the skunk works is up to!!

I don't know if details will come out after the '33 pick-up that will be revealed at SEMA, or if it too will be a surprise to be announced in the future...

Whatever it is, I bet it will be freaking cool, and I can't wait to see it!

    Regards,

    Steve

I've been waiting since they announced the Gen3 65. I know, I know "FINISH THE 818 FIRST" or even "TAKE DELIVERY OF THE 818 FIRST", but I say it's never to early to dream up the next project.

Can't wait to see this. IMHO the frame design of the 33 Hotrod and the Gen3 coupe are worlds ahead of the roadster so I am glad they will keep using the design technique.

A cheetah kit is already available elsewhere. Stacey David built one on Gears with an ls7. It'll probably b a Shelby GTR1 concept replica. (boring) I put my vote in for something original inspired by all the GT Vision concepts that are popular now. Hopefully it will be a cad-cam body this time, you know, something symmetrical for a change... Yes please fire your hand-shaper and do this one right.remote.jpginfiniti-vision-gt-concept-05.jpgFord Shelby GR 1 Concept 2005 (6).jpg

As for me, I am hoping that IF they create a car of their own design that is in the spirit of the GTM, and 818.
I'm just glad that it would be a front engine design using the chassis of the Type 65.
Long hoods & short tails do it for me, but that's all I've ever driven.

I can't imagine building an FFR kit with four doors. I'd consider suicide first. If you've built a GTM you'll know what I mean.

A GT40 with mid mounted engine up front? No transaxle to mess with and 50/50 weight distribution.

Not likely but proportions might lend itself to an Etype

Would love a Ferrari 250 GTO!
Would look really good next to my Coupe, and with the coupe it's my most favorite car of the era.
With how sue happy Ferrari is it'll probably never happen though....

I’m with Tim. It would be awesome for it to be an E-Type. The chassis would be very similar.
And dare we hope for roll up windows?

RCR Aston Martin DB3S Replica.dbs6.jpg Not Ferrari but captures the style of the time. Just showing some of these because they've got a ton of older style replicas to chose from if you like older cars. I'd rather see something newer edge myself.

Make sure you've got your valium prescription filled or you'll need a Jim Beam IV directly in your arm while you work. Beer will NOT be strong enough.

If you don't know the other forum has a lot more GTM info than here. There is a thread that's active now with some helpful info on mounting the body to properly set it up so the doors and hood will work.

In just two years I have rolled more miles on my Coupe than 10 years with a previous Etype.

That would probably be very feasible, considering the frame of the Gen 3 coupe might be easily adapted to the body style.

Still..the Cheetah, far rarer than even the Cobra roadster, or the 250GTO, and today, as rare, if not rarer, than the Daytona Coupe, is one sexy looking vehicle.
An American made sports car from the 60's, it deserves a quality built replica to pay tribute to them. I believe FFR could design one, far better than the originals, or any of the other replica's out there.

    Hi Everyone

I was looking at the floor plan for SEMA yesterday and the booth for FFR has doubled in size from last year. It says there will be 8 cars in the booth, maybe the wait won't be as long as we think for the new vehicle.

I doubt they've got a re-body for the GenIII yet, it's probably the steel hot rod and pick-up that'll be the new stuff.

The Evolution cheetah looks pretty nice to me. Stacey David built one and it seems like a well built kit. That thing's gotta be way more uncomfortable than the type 65 coupe though. There's NO footwell space in those cars. DSC3791.jpg63-Cheetah-Hood-Up-Profile.jpgCheetah-Face-Off-Low.jpgCheetah-Headers.jpg

That was going to be my comment. The Cheetah is fantastic to look at but I have heard nothing good about actually being inside one. I know they already exist but how about a 66 Corvette Grand Sport. Whatever it is, I'd like to see it designed so that weather proofing it isn't totally up to the builder.

I guessing it will be an original design like the GTM, the 818, for no other reason, lawyers. If the design was similar to a actual production car, especially Ferrari they would sue FFR or would have to have a licensing agreement with that company driving the price out if the targeted customer. I should go back to the garage and work now, that Gen 3 Coupe is not going to build itself.

Please not like the Cheetah. Sorry but I think it's ugly and have seen one up close. No thanks.

What I read is that it is based off of the Gen III Coupe design, so that suggests that a cheetah is out of the question -- thankfully!

I too, think it is going to be an all new FFR design, but I have no idea what it will look like. However, I am excited to find out.

I am hoping we might see a few teaser pics or some hints from FFR before she is unveiled.

    Regards,

    Steve

I am hoping that the body panels are 818 style, which like the SLC, can be polished up without painting. Any color other than white please! If the body is not a single piece, it can be easily wrapped as well.
