What is this part from a 2004 automatic torque converter assembly?

Anyone know the name of this part from a 2004 automatic torque converter assembly. I've got a transmission where the torque converter was not fully seated. Now that I've got the larger tube out with the cir clip, I found this inside the front edge of that larger tube. I have no idea what it is, could it be part of the oil seal?

It is approximately 2" in diameter and is a spring

    Thanks

It looks like spring out of the front seal.

CVOBill, you are correct. After ordering a new seal I was able to confirm it is from the front seal at the torque converter. It is a garter spring.

    Thanks
