What Engine Connections are these ?
Hi All,
One of the hazards of getting an engine already taken out of the car AND being a noobie to the Subarau platform is just beginning to learn about the engine. I have two photos showing the different connections to the engine that I need to know what they are to.
1. These 3 hoses are on the driver side

2. These two are at the rear of the engine.

Thanks

2nd picture is the heater hoses. If you are not installing a heater you must connect those 2 or the engine will overheat. Not sure about the 1 pic. You can usually buy a CD of the factory manual for your year donor on E-Bay. I highly suggest that to aid you in the build.

First pic is the fuel lines, supply, return, and one to the rails IIRC.

Actually the third one wasn't the rails... I think it was something I removed, maybe the charcoal canister or some kind of smog equip? It was a while ago.

I wasn't sure what you meant by "rails" at first, lol. Definitely fuel lines, and I recalled all three going back to the tank (I just cut my donor pipes apart to mock up a wire frame).

All that junk in the top right goes to the evap can.

1st pic supply return and EVAP. Second heater core as stated needs to be looped there is a supplied hose from the kit.

I removed the fuel rails and all smog/evap connections on mine and went aftermarket - much cleaner and lighter, if you are watching your weight as they say.
The second pic are the heater core lines and they do get looped but with your engine year the FFR kit supplied hose is too short. You can either get a longer hose or a new coolant crossover pipe that exits closer and lower to the coolant pipe nearest the heads in your pic.

THANKS guys for the help. It is greatly appreciated
