Just as an FYI: you will be giving up 1.5+ inches in width and 1.5 inches in height. So it will take away a little of your comfortable maintenance area in various places. I think it will be the tightest on the driver's side near the rear. I really like the space you have to work on the 302 but I will most likely go to the 351W as it is so much stronger mechanically and powerful with upgrades and CID. The deck height is critical but Gordon knows that combo works for you. It could make other setups difficult. I've had some hood clearance issues even with my 302 (various EFI setups).
Good luck,
WEK.

I have one of Gordon's 408 ci motors in mine. It fits fine. The header tube on the drivers side is close but not an issue.
You are going to be very pleased with this engine.
My pal Jerry also has a 351 Windsor Stroker in his Gen-1 Type 65 Coupe and it's a screamer.
The 383 I had in my car has just a little shorter stroke (3.75") and made very good power before springing a leak.
Again, you are going to be VERY pleased with that combo.

As others have said the last header bolt on driver’s side is really tight.

I’m useing a dart block 461ci stroked and bored Windsor motor on my current mk4 build. Header fitment, access to spark plugs and header bolts where fine a bit tight but no concern. My only wish is for more hood clearance. I’m using a victor jr intake with a quick fuel 780 carb and I have just enough room while useing the factory five (energy suspension) poly mount kit to fit a 11” x 2.1” tall air filter and k&n top under the hood. Any larger air filter in any direction but front to back and it won’t fit. I don’t know the specs on your intake but I suggest you cross check them because these cars with the 351 or any of the big blocks will tend to be choked off by exhaust and air filters. No point in building a 500-600 hp motor to loose 80hp of it.
Go here;

and see what various air filters will support. Pay particular attention to how they could get a rough estimate of how much HP could be run before the filter restricted it. I run a 3x14 inch filter w/ the top also being filter on a drop base. It's Ok to something like 600 hp so i was happy to see that.

If you are desperate for hood clearance, then the Torker II is the lowest single plane intanke that you can get from Edelbrock, but you may need to look at the port dimensions to see if they will work with your heads. In addition, you need to check your deck height as well.

As has been mentioned air filter to hood clearance with the Air Gap on a 351 can be a problem. I've done a couple and it takes a drop base along with a filter top. Had one owner who had his heart set on using an the classic oval---no way.

Suggestions for a drop filter base, filter & top?

What are you using for a air filter set up?

Can’t remember the exact drop base but thinking 1”+ with a 14x3 Spectre.

Could this be an option from Spectre?

Hummmmmm?
A few photos of a 351 partially installed.
351W, Victor Jr Manifold, 1/2" thick spacer, Holley HP and a drop base aircleaner w/ 14" x 3" K&N element. The carb stud is 1-7/8" tall outside of the carb's mounting boss. FFR / Ford engine mounts on FFR pedestals.
The Edelbrock website lists the manifold heights. I don't think the RPM Airgap is as tall as the Vic Jr and spacer.
The carb stud just touches the inside of the hood. Note: the body was partially mounted and only held in with the quick jack mounts. I don't think the height will fit when the body is fully mounted.
I was testing headers (not FFR style) and as can be seen the driver's side is shifted one cylinder forward, this is the only way that my current headers would fit. The passenger side would fit but the foot box isn't installed.

Hope this helps.

That Spectre is what I have been using for about 4 years although w/o the tray and w/ a Performer RPM (non air gap).
