After installing the headers on drivers side noticed tight fit with the rear brake line. Hasn't damaged the cushion on the clamp yet but could this be a problem? Should/could I just put a layer of heat shield over the brake line?

I’m no expert but that looks to close to be safe over time. I don’t know if I would trust that even with a heat shield that you might get into that tight a space. IMHO.

I think that will be a serious heat problem. I know it's not desirable now, but if it was mine, I'd move it to the other side of the DS FB.

Too close for any effective heat insulation.
I agree, too close to a heat source. The last thing you want is to be heating your brake fluid.
