    Extra fiberglass in front?

Hey All. I was browsing classifieds around the country and came across a 67 Cobra replica, appears to be Shell Valley.

However I was confused by the front of the vehicle at the air intake. It has a piece of fiberglass running horizontally through the opening in the front??

Has anyone seen this before? Would it restrict airflow to the engine?

    Thanks

    Brian
