My Three-Year-Old Grandson Knows His Cars!

I've been helping my oldest grandson build his Hot Wheels collection. He is pretty good at identifying a lot of the "regular" cars in his collection. Check out this short video -- it'll put a smile on any car guy's face.

Since he was about that age, my son has loved hotwheels as well, and knows the names of all his favorite models. He also loves the racegrooves youtube channel and his "track time" videos, often recreating them with his own track setups and narration.

It sure is fun cultivating a new car nut, isn't it?

He is well on his way to being a serious car guy. I think you need to replace his PT Cruiser with a Cobra

Thank for taking time to watch and comment. He and I sat and watch Cobras on YouTube for about an hour the other day. He just wanted to watch one after another and then wanted to go see Papa's race car in the garage. I had two daughters, so having grandsons is such a treat for me. Unfortunately, they won't get a real ride in the MK4 until they're big enough to properly buckle in. They may still get a little ride up and down the street in front of the house.

We have discussed if a belt positioning booster would be compatible with the harnesses. we are leaning towards yes, given the right seat.

I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the tip.

I have found no regulations or studies regarding the use of a racing harness with any sort of child seat, so it is something that you have to decide if you feel it is safe or legal where you are. it is my opinion that, assuming the booster fits the car's seat and the belts appropriately, it is at least as safe as using a child seat with the built-in harnesses and LATCH on a "normal" car. My wife trusts the engineered solution from the child seat manufacturers over any other solution, so we have had some back-and-forth on the topic. I pointed out that the child seat's harnesses are designed to be better and safer for a child than a standard 3-point belt, where harnesses like in the F5 protect rally drives as they cartwheel down the sides of mountains. She cautiously found this assessment acceptable.
