    Dash is done...pics too!

Well, the basics are done. Still have to tidy up the wiring, but here it is:

Speedhut Revolution gauges from left to right: Water Temp, Oil Pressure, Tach, Oil Temp, Volts, Fuel Level and Speedo below.

Other things on the dash: LED for variable speed fan on a temp sensor (the item on the very left hand side), Signal, High beams, Alt indicator lights and a Probe signal flasher. Top row of switches: Headlights, Fog lights, Hazards, Courtesy lights. Bottom row: Dash Dimmer, Horn, Ignition on/start, Accessories power, Wiper. The labels are from dashdecals.com stuck to stainless steel washers and the glovebox and dash vinyl is from acroadsterinteriors.com.

I'm using ISIS to wire the car and using their remote keyless security setup so there won't be a key on the dash. I have a couple of other hidden security items too. I'm installing a console that has the matching clock, seat heater switches and the heater controls installed.

Thanks to Jim (Kelownacobra) who helped with the Probe signal placement and also hooked me up with a company that cut the dash locally. I learned a bunch while doing this part of the project and still made 2 mistakes, but I'm going with this version for now. At this point, the wiring is next...

That looks great Andrew! What do you have to the far right of the dash(beside the gauge)? Are you using just the one signal indicator? I think I need to stop over for a better look.

What type of vinyl did you use? The foam backed material that comes with the kit, or something special. It doesn't look too "puffy" like some with the FFR vinyl.

    Thanks guys!

The design is very similar to what CobraDVM did on his magnificent roadster. I have "borrowed" more than a couple of things from him for my build.

    Ralph.
I got the vinyl from Alex at acroadsterinteriors.com. He sold me the glove box and enough vinyl to cover the dash. He actually sent some foam backing as a separate item that I also used. Total thickness is less than the FFR supplied foam.

Looks great. I was not a fan of the foam behind the vinyl but yours looks awesome. I guess a little less is more. Would covering in leather with the glove box be difficult? I know the glove box comes covered in vinyl. Thanks,

    Thanks Chris,

I'm pretty sure that CobraDVM purchased the leather for his dash and sent it to Alex to have the glovebox covered in leather too. Hopefully he will jump in here. In the meantime, here's a link to his dash thread:

Hey Andrew - that looks awesome (although I might be a little biased on the layout!). The black gauges look really good.

Chris - I sent Alex the leather pieces that he requested, and he put them on the glove box and then sent it to me all finished.

I really enjoyed doing the dash work - it was one of the real fun parts of the build.

Thanks Howard! Clearly your dash served as the inspiration for mine. I hope my blatant copying of your work is taken as a compliment.

I too enjoyed building the dash as the results are fairly dramatic in a short period of time (relatively).

Absolutely I'm flattered - most of my build is an amalgam of ideas I've pinched from other builders anyway!

The dash looks great! Like you, I put in a locking glove box but then I was annoyed that I could not open unless I had the key which was on my ignition key ring. So, I added a press-to-open latch (Lowes). Unlocked, it opens and closes with a press, but I can lock the glovebox when parked.
Did I mention I love your dash?

Neat job. I don't like dashes with too much padding so your gauges have a sunk in look. You nailed it.

Me either. The thread was started over 4 years ago, and the OP hasn't been on the forum for 4+ months. So I'm not expecting an answer.

To the new question about the Probe turn signal, do a search on the other forum. Several threads.

Extremely similar layout to what I am currently planning. Different gauges, and thinking CF for the covering.
Congratulations on a job well done!
