Name The Next Factory Five Challenge

Oppenhiemer called for this and I figured I'd start a thread with the right name on it.

We have been debating the vehicle name for quite a while. The Hot Rod was always going to be a '33 Hot Rod. In-house we code named it Larry (#33 Celtics) while it was under development.

Let's start a simple name challenge (for the actual car). I think acronyms (GTM, LS3, GTO) are overdone, but maybe there's a killer one that hasnt been used. A real name would be cool, but without being a marketing genius I am afraid of ending up with a "Supe Cool Ridester" or something like that. Ha.

Any ideas on names. This would be for the vehicle name or alphanumeric configuration of the model (S3R) etc. Winner gets "Yoda" status on the forum or tag line that he invented the name, credit in the brochures and a box of FFR swag (a $9.99 value!).

How about, "Forza" - its italian for "force" (yes, I was thinking of the xbox simulator). Perhaps since we all love Star Wars, we could call it the Factory Five Racing Vader. I'd LOVE to be the one to name this amazing vehicle, so I'll keep brain storming.

While I'm trolling waiting for my son to get out of school, I'll add the related....

    Banshee

Although Pontiac already used that on 2 concept cars.

How about "Kraken"? I know the world's 4th fastest super computer already uses it as its name, but I don't think any cars have been named that.

I think a 'working' name is all we want for now. We don't even know if its going to be a retro look or something new looking (will it be more GTM or GT-40?)

The chances of picking a name that now that will suit the look that comes later seems iffy at best. I still like the idea of a name contest, and the kudos that come with it, I just think that should come after the body design is complete.

Meanwhile we need a name to call it now. You called the '33 Larry. What have you been calling this? (Ray Allen, perhaps? newer, lighter, athletic) I'm sure whatever you were calling it would be a sufficient working name for now.

    What about the:
    1. Raptor
    2. xtremester (Extreme/roadster)
    3. Tornado
    4. Skeletor (going back to my He-man days)
    5. Exofive

But until we know what the car really looks like, maybe Missy or Mistress, since everything about this car is a tease.

    Nouveau

Which is French and means new in the sense of new to the owner - a change or improvement; that is, something that is new because it's different than what came before.

I'm no marketing genius either, but it would appeal to that 'world' concept.

I see your point. The Honda Civic sounds more appropriate than the Honda Godzilla. Still I'm not sure that the final body design will weigh too heavily on what it ends up being called. Take the original ****** Cobra for example. It was a small and fast car named after a small and fast animal, but looks nothing like a cobra. We sort of know what we are getting: a small, fast, convertable with either super modern looks or a modern interpretation of an older vehicle's looks.

Back on topic: I really like the name Raptor. I was thinking about "Cell". I mean like an animal or plant cell, not a cell phone or jail cell. It seems appropriate because cells are small and diverse with different jobs and purposes, just like how this car will be. This car could either be a hard top race car or a topless day-at-the-beech car (no pun intended). And to top it off I think it sounds cool, modern, and is original.

Seventh is what I am thinking. It's far past the Sixth Element.

More information on the name Seventh.

I might be wrong on this. But it would also be the 7th car release by FFR

    1. Roadster
    2. Challenge Car
    3. Type 65 Coupe
    4. Sypder GT
    5. GTM
    6. '33 Hot Rod
    7. Seventh

Some of the names I use for my concepts:

    -Hellion
    -Demon
-Skorpio (specific spelling to avoid the old Mercur car)

...or a bunch of other zodiac signs. Then again, a lot of them have been taken (Taurus, Aries, Scorpio, Libra, etc.)...But didn't they just introduce a new one sign? --just looked it up: "Ophiuchus"...doesn't really have a great ring to it, does it?

OK, it only LOOKS like Wayne was cheating off my test. Great minds think alike, and apparently so do ours.

Actually I like FFRX better than mine.

FFRX would be great if it had a rotary or used an RX7 or 8 donor.

I wouldn't be opposed to calling it the Raptor...... Maybe VRaptor?! Yeah...that's it! Don't know how that came to mind........

I think I'd melt those down to:

    Roxstar or WRXstar

    Both pronounced "rock-star"

No doubt that FFRX sounds cool, but then it would simply be the "X" which is less cool. Perhaps XRaptor and FFRX for short?

I've been thinking of more big-name-car-maker themes of going with a name thats a verb, or a noun. Examples: "Ford Focus" (Verb), "Nissan Juke" (verb), "Jeep Rubicon" (Noun, place), "Chevrolet Volt" (Noun, thing). Perhaps something like "Ember" or "Diamond".

The nine brightest stars of the Pleiades are named for the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology: Sterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygeta, Celaeno, and Alcyone, along with their parents Atlas and Pleione. As daughters of Atlas, the Hyades were sisters of the Pleiades.
Alcyone is already taken by Subaru. Electra is another car from another marque.
I like the "FFR Taygeta" personally.
FFR Pleiades - The star cluster that makes up the stars in the Subaru logo.
    FFR Nebulous - It's a nebula

Lol, thats EXACTLY what I meant!

In the spirit of everybody likeing FFRX, I looked up words starting with X and found this site used for scrabble words . Coolest word there starting with X was "Xenolith" meaning a fragment of a rock inside another rock.

FYI: "X" usually means AWD in marketing speak. WRX, BMW 330Xi/X1/X3/X5/X6, Infiniti M37x/M56x, Volvo XC60/XC70/XC90 etc...

    X - four points.

Pleiades is the 'seven sisters' constellation. Someone else mentioned calling it '7th', or '7th element', so this seems to fit.

Very true. On the other hand there is the Ferrari FXX which I think is more or less an Enzo (I have NO clue on the specifics of that car though) and feel certain that it is a mid engine RWD. But I think your right, the FXX is the only exception I can think of.

Pleiades would make a great "working" name until we know what it looks like. Kinda along the lines of "Larry".

Working name, The Block. Dual meaning as it's a block of clay waiting to be shaped and a tip of the hat to Ken Block's Subaru days.

Given the Japanese heritage and International Flavor:

Five in Japanese is go or 五

Ronin a samurai who had lost his master (or Subaru that has lost it's engine )
