    Inverted g96.01 oil capacity?

Does anyone know if the inverted g96.01 gearbox has the same oil capacity as the standard box (just under 3qt)?

Spoke with my transaxle supplier, CMS. Recommend filling to the level of the center of the CV joint, or a hair below. He said about 1.5" below fill plug. Recommended a synthetic 75-90 GL-5, they like Motul gear 300...he was thinking about 6qt... Dang it, 3 qts Porsche fluid arriving FedEx today...

You were not for off according to the specifications below. They had the capacity at 2.7 liters which is equivalent to 2.853 quarts so I just put in three quarts. My transmission builder who added the limited slip and changed the final gearing also stated to add 3 quarts so not sure how he came up with 6 quarts. He also told me to use synthetic lube, Stan at G-Box when I filled the transaxle. Not sure it this will help but this is what I was told for my G96 so that is what I have done.

That's interesting, James. I think the key is getting it filled to the level of the center of the CV flange. Thanks for the information, you saved me from possibly overfilling it.

I will let you know how much I end up putting in there.

Just filled it with Mobil 1 (available locally). 6 quarts seems right, put me about 1.5" below the fill line, close to the level of the CV flange. James, you better confirm your level before karting.

James....I'm guessing your oil capacities are for the transaxle in it's normal right-side-up configuration. Once you flip it upside-down like we are in the GTM, the oil capacity changes because you're filling the opposite side of the case.

Thanks guys, I thought I had it right but looks like might have bad information and need to insure I have it right. After reading the post and looking at the transmission I can see what you are talking about, when flipped over it raises the location where the axles exit the transmission versus install in the correct orientation. I will check on this again and look like I will be adding around 3 more quarts to get the level to half way up on the axel centerline. Guess it was good think I did post something even if it was wrong, might have saved me and issue without even knowing I had one!!
