    Tfs 11r on 289 with stock heads?

    my hope and dream of using worked iron heads on my 289 are out the window.

    The tfs 11r has a similar combustion chamber.

    I see there can be issues with piston clearance.

    Your experience is appreciated, can I do it with stock flat tops with valve reliefs at stock position?

    valve adjustment .018 .020
    gross valve lift .529 .542
    dur @ .0.0 tappet life 271 279

    valve timing @ .050 open close
    int: 12 BTDC 44 ABDC
    exh: 47 BBDC 15 ATDC

    I've run 11Rs on a stock mid 90s 351w shortblock with no issues. Cam choice will have a lot to do with it.

    What should I be considering in a cam? Less lift or a shorter duration?

    The short answer is both. Typical the exhaust valve is the first issue since the piston is chasing it as it's closing. You could call TFS and see what they have to say about it. In the end it might come down to you just having to go for it and see if your combo choice will work. I ran a TFS cam that was thought to not work,but when I installed it,the piston to valve clearance was fine. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-51403002

    These are the specs of the cam I was going to run with stock 289 heads, any chance this will work with the TFS 11R?
