Long Island Cobra runs in 2021?

Anyone on or close to Long Island? I think we should organize a few cruises. We could either meet up and cruise TO one of the big Sunday morning Cars & Coffee runs (OBI, Robert Moses, Cap Tree, Hauppauge DMV, or wherever we land this year). Or, we can meet up AT one of those C&C's and cruise out from there together and take a ride to somewhere, maybe a breakfast spot or maybe just a loop. I'm sure you have all seen some of those amazing YouTube videos of 30+ Cobra's taking a tour through Europe attracting crowds at every intersection. Wouldn't that be cool?

Post up and we can try and coordinate. Hopefully, COVID will be mostly a thing of the past by the summer!

    Hi Adam,

I just ordered a kit so I would not be cruising for a couple years, but if anything is organized, I would love to check out some completed builds.

Well, I definitely will try to organize something. At the very least, we'll coordinate Sunday morning cars & coffee - maybe at least park together.

We just started building ours a few weeks ago but would love to stop by and check out some finished builds if you do end up organizing something.

Nice meeting you both last weekend. I'm starting to give out those flyers so hopefully we'll get a Cobra run this summer.

Folks can email me at [email protected] if you like.

Hey folks, I'm starting to give out a flyer I made up when I go to car events. I'm hoping to gather up some Cobra owners for a run this summer. I created an email address as well for this so feel free to contact me directly at any time at:

    [email protected]

My hope is to all meet up one Sunday morning and drive somewhere. We can either meet before a Cars & Coffee and drive to the event together (ie, the West Babylon K-mart event is huge now), or we can meet at the event and all leave together for a nice ride somewhere.

Who's in? And should we pick a date now and just push for it?

Just an update to this thread: I've handed out a few flyers at some shows. Hopefully we'll find the time to get a run going.

One year (probably like 2010) 21 "Cobras" met in Bablyon and drove up to Orange County Choppers. We got a personal tour, but none of the "stars" were there.

Cool! So what do you guys think, should we just pick a date, meet at OBI one morning and then take a trek from there around LI? Maybe drive out to The Big Duck, which would be about 50 miles east. Or if that's too far or too far east, we could go north to East Northport to Bagel Boss on Jericho Tpk. I know the owner there and we can set up there for our own little Cars & Coffee.

Please chime in with where you would like to go as a destination.

As for a date, how about:

    Sunday July 18th?
    or
    Sunday August 8th?

UPDATE: Sunday August 8th. Meet at OBI first, then we'll roll out for a nice drive.
    (OBI GPS point: https://goo.gl/maps/B8HwZ1YKLsCJ4HKP8)

I'M THINKING WE PLAN ON LEAVING OBI BY 8AM. Does that work for everyone?

OBI is open and as you may or may not know, it gets crowded but not as bad as it's been in prior years. If you want to get there early and hang out and know you'll get a parking spot, feel free. If you want to get there later just to meet up and roll out, then we need to pick a time to get there by.

We can determine a route based on where everyone lives who shows up. If more people come from Suffolk, we'll drive east. If people are from Nassau, maybe we'll head west on Ocean Parkway and go to Long Beach for breakfast. Open to suggestions either way.

Please post or PM me your cell phone and email address and I'll start an email and/or text thread.

    email me at [email protected]

I met 4 additional Cobra owners last night at the Oyster Bay car cruise who are planning to attend our run! Now we're getting somewhere!

I'll post this on all 3 forums. But please email me a good email address and cell phone number and I'll get an email thread going for the event. It will be easier to keep track of.

mail to [email protected] and I'll reply with my personal email address and my cell phone number.

We just need to decide where we want to drive to once we leave OBI.

(And someone put in the request for great weather please.)

REMINDER: We are meeting this Sunday at OBI, then rolling out for a Cobra Cruise at 8am. OBI gets crowded early, so I'll be there no later than 7:30. You can get there early or arrive just before 8am and we'll line up and go since parking may be at a premium by then.

Feel free to text me that morning as needed (ie, if you're running late and want to meet us along the route).

    Where should we drive to?

    1. Westhampton for breakfast at Goldberg's Bagels or The Bakery?

    2. Northport for Tim's Shipwreck Diner?

    3. East Northport for Bagel Boss?

    4. Jericho Bagel Boss?

Or should we just create a loop, drive, and blow off the food?

Email with your vote. I vote for Westhampton personally but I'm flexible.

Bring folding chairs so we can eat outside by the cars wherever we go.

Hello Cobra fans. I just did a dry run and think I have a nice little route for tomorrow morning.

    I'm thinking we do this:

Start at OBI. Depart at 8am. (Get there early if you want to hang out and check out the cars. it gets CROWDED early).

Drive west to Long Beach: Long Island Bagel Cafe as the destination. It's 26 miles away along the scenic Ocean Pkw to Meadowbrook Pkw to Loop Pkw into Long Beach. Very few lights or traffic. Just watch your speed.

The Bagel Cafe is on the right and has a small parking lot. If that's full, there is a larger community parking area about 2 blocks up on the left side of the road. We can park there, walk back for food and eat it by the cars. Bring chairs.

    THEN
We will then reverse this trip and end our ride back at OBI. When we get back, there will still be plenty of cars but it won't be so crowded that we won't find parking, probably together.*

For GPS: OBI (Oak Beach): 3 Oak Beach Rd, Centereach, NY
Long Island Bagel Cafe, 757 E Park Ave, Long Beach, NY 11561

    We just need good weather!

Sadly, it's clearly too wet and dangerous for a Cobra ride today.

Next weekend I have family plans but MIGHT be able to get a ride in anyway.

Would people prefer trying on Sunday, doing the same thing, starting and ending at OBI during the cars and coffee, or doing it on Saturday?

I vote for Sunday during cars and coffee. Is that good for you all?

First run is in the books. The turnout may have been small (5 Cobras) but the fun was anything but small!

Yes, we had 3 cancellations when we changed the date. This was the first one. It'll grow.
