How did you guys prep your mirrors and door handles for paint?

    Hey guys,

Just curious to see how you guys prepared your mirrors and door handles for paint? With the door handles, did you guys take them completely apart? Because the problem i'm seeing with that is that the hinges are rivet type of hinges. Once they are taken apart, i suspect that one would have to replace the hinges with new ones.

With the mirrors, is it something as simple as pulling the glass out? I'm afraid to try just in case i break them. I know that with other cars, you can simply pull the glass out, cover up the internals and go nuts with the spray gun..

    Thanks again in advance, Tom!

no, don't take apart, I would't, that is. Scuff and shoot, lots of wax and grease remover first.

Mirror lenses pop out, just tilt to one side and pull gently. For the door handles, I used wooden wedges about 3-8 x 1/2 x 4 inches long. Wedge the handle open from the back side, spray the inside, then remove the wedge and spray again. Otherwise you are left with two lines where the paint didnt get behind the hinges.
