    Adjustable Ground Clearance

    I've searched the forum and haven't found a discussion on an adjustable ground clearance system.

    Has anyone installed a system for increasing ground clearance in areas like parking lots and steep driveways? Many cars (including the new Corvette) let you push a button and get 1 or 2 inches of ground clearance so you don't scrape on a steep driveway or high center going into your garage. I am looking to build a Type 65 Coupe. I previously had a 2013 CTS-V that was dropped an inch and scraping was a major problem. I had to put 2x12s on my garage floor to not high center.

    I'll try to figure something out on my own, but if anyone has already figured it out, I would love to know your solution.

    Air shocks work but they are generally large diameter and expensive. Probably won't fit in the allowed space.

    Maybe with steel bodied coilovers and steel adjusters you could develop a rotary drive system for the adjusters. Think a powered coilover. Then with powered drive and some form of height calibration it would be a matter of setting the switch to the desired height settings.

    Salvage a system from a new Vette.

    You have to decide if the solution is worth the expense. Maybe raising the natural ride height a half or three-quarters of an inch will solve the problem. Probably wouldn't notice the handling difference. I believe that street use was indicated. I had a 2001 Audi S4 that was real low, PITA. Finally raised it up, much easier to live with.

    Ramliftpro.com make a 2-wheel or 4-wheel lift system in various lift amounts that retrofits into coil overs. I have no personal experience with them, but they look like an interesting option. They're offered as an option on the RCR40 replicas, for example.

    I have them on my Superlite SLC and they raise the front end about 2-2 1/2 inches.

    I have the Ramliftpro for a Superlite build I am doing. Another alternative is Stanceparts.

    Ramliftpro is hydraulic and requires shorter springs, Stanceparts is air powered, keeps the full height of the springs, but you need some extra diameter for the cups. Both seem to work well and are reliable.

    The Stance air cups and Ramliftpro look like exactly what I want. Thanks very much. If anyone else has other ideas or experience with these, I'd love to hear about it.

    I have the stanceparts air cups, tankless 2 wheel. I am not sold they will fit through the upper A arm of the coupe suspension. I don't like to confirm my bad decisions so I have been avoiding the fitment question. It is possible it would fit in the inverted position (through lower a arm) but would accumulate way too much debris in the cup. I started working on the drive train to avoid it, but it's the next job on the list.
