Back up or neutral safety switch. Use an ohm meter to find out.

That is your reverse switch to operate your back-up lights.....contacts open except when in reverse.

No reason it would be polarized, just open vs closed switch.

Beeman is correct.....it's just mechanically operated open or closed contacts. No polarity. Run Ign+ power to one post and connect your reverse lights to the other post.

Also if you are running a backup camera, you would run the activating wire to the reverse camera from this lead

I am currently wiring this switch up. I assume this uses some sort of crimp terminals to plug into the switch. Definitely missing on my car. I've tried the male crimp terminals (blue crimp sleeve insulation) typically available from auto parts stores but they aren't secure enough. Nor can I find a pigtail available from German car suppliers. Does anyone have a brand/part number or a solution that works?

Go to Porsche dealer, I think I bought the Pins from them and they also there is an angle boot that goes over it. that is what I have.

Depending upon the pin material, you can also solder wires onto the pins, pot the soldered connections, and then put a quality connector that is more universal on the wires so that it is easy to deal with in the future. I use Deustch connectors that I get here...https://www.prowireusa.com/

Interesting idea with the hot glue. I think I would be afraid that in a position like near the transaxle, in the engine compartment, it might get hot enough to melt the hot glue? I do not work with hot glue. I know a lot of people find it very convenient and useful, but I just have never been a fan or used it for anything. My wife uses it all the time for arts and crafts, but it just never came into my realm of thinking when doing race car stuff. 3M 8115 panel bonder? Yeah I use that stuff all the time for multiple things. Might be able to use that for potting liquid, but this "flexible" epoxy seems much better suited. I know it doesn't list as having a high heat rating, but I have never had any issues. The epoxy cures through chemical reaction while I believe the hot glue gun glue is just thermoset?

Yeah the hot glue basically melts and rehardens without changing the chemical properties. I don't know if it's technically a thermoplastic like ABS (think 3D printer) but it's more flexible. There are different melting temperatures as well.
I have used my wife's glue gun to reinforce and insulate soldered circuits on a circuit board... Helps keep the wires supported and provides insulation as a bonus...

FWIW...Every sensor on my GTM's motor and a few others on the car were soldered, potted with RT125, and received Deutsch AS connectors. You don't need to go to that extreme on the connectors, I do also have other Deutsch DT connectors throughout.
