Adjustable Short Shifter from CMS cable lengths for G96 needed
Dear all,
a question for those with cable shifter (Adjustable Short Shifter) from CMS and a G96.50 gearbox (probably not so many of you have this combination) - but if, I would be glad to know the right lengths for the cables I have to order. The cables are measured from the cable holder on the shifter to the corresponding cable holder on the gearbox.
Many thanks for any info about that! :-)
greetings from Austria..............Eugen

The easiest way to get that measurement is to use some hose....like a piece of the 5/8" heater hose that comes with the kit.....to route as you want the cables routed and then measure the hose. Make one mark on the hose for one cable and then make a second mark for the other cable, pull the hose out and measure to your marks. Make sure you leave plenty of radius everywhere and plenty of clearance to the exhaust.

I will try to get mine measured for you soon. They are installed but accessible. There is quite a bit of room for error in the length as you loop them back from the rear since the gearbox is reversed...

Thanks Shane,
yes, good way to measure the cable lenghts! But I would really like to order them before I have everything installed, because it takes a while to get them shipped to Austria. So I would like to have the cables ready when I start replacing my gearbox. But if I cannot get the right length I will have to go this way you suggested! :-)
Thanks, greetings............Eugen

I have a G96.01 from CMS with the CMS billet shifter. I see why no one volunteered to give you a cable length, not easy to measure in even a partially finished car. I measured about 105" measuring the sheathed cable from mounting nut to mounting nut, not the internal mechanism. The cables cover about the same distance, the A cable for left/right shifter movement starts closer to the gearbox but travels about the same distance farther on the gearbox end. I have the CMS billet cable mount on the gearbox end. As you can see at the rear of the car, the cables loop back to the front which gives you some margin of error in cable length.

If anyone can confirm this measurement, Eugen would probably appreciate it. I'll measure again tomorrow in the opposite direction and see if I get an identical number.

Great, thanks a lot! I really appreciate it! I thought maybe someone has the lengths of the cables he has ordered. And yes, measureing is quite difficult, I understand that completely!

I just looked at my invoice from CMS for the cables, doesn't mention the length. I called in my measurements and they had them drop shipped from their supplier. I used an old garden hose like Shane recommended above to figure the lengths out.

Thanks, that is great info! Could you PM me your Name and maybe the adress, where CMS shipped it to - they should be able to find out which length they shipped to you! If not, I will go with the 105 inch. As you wrote there is still a margin of error how close the cables run in the back of the gearbox.

Short update: the cable lengths of 105 inch fit perfectly! The G96/50 gearbox is now installed with the numeric shifter. Much better shifting than a G50!
Thanks for all the help here!
