    818 Lap Times

    Greetings...
I'm building an 818R for track-day use. I'm interested in how you folks have been doing with your race/track cars. Can you post some lap times?
I’ll post a few times in my stock 2016 Cayman S on stock size TW200 tires. I’ve been touring around the Southeast so most of these tracks I’ve only visited once… so be kind, lol

    dlj,
I have seen a video posted here of 818Rs breaking the 2.00 lap time at VIR, and it has been listed on the best times of all categories for that track. It is not just the car.

Wish we had that many tracks on the West Coast.

I've been passed by Miata's and have passed GT3's (so satisfying!)

There are HUGE differences between tires within the TW200 market. I started on Toyo Proxy R1R's then switched to Falcon RT660's and picked up a mind blowing 8 seconds at Buttonwillow and Sonoma!

I have a 818S that has only been at the track and have run a few of the tracks.

Summit Point Main. 1:23 was on a 1:22 but ran out of gas on the last corner
Summit Shenandoah don’t remember the times but hated the track so won’t go back anyway.
    VIR 2:11
    Dominion Raceway. 1:32
    NCCAR. 1:31 counter clockwise
    1:34 clockwise

Might have better times at a couple of the tracks but the car seems to brake every other event so tough to make improvements with so much time between events. Car is a wolf amongst sheep with all but real race cars.

I run almost exclusively at CMP. 1:51.830 with 46 (20 minute track sessions) heat cycles on my Federal FZ201M 100 treadwear tires. These have been fantastic tires for the 818 for track use. A good value and extremely consistent over their life. I have some buttonwillow times, but was spending too much time sorting the car to "drive" it. I am getting consistently faster as my skills improve....

Thanks for the info! And its quite encouraging... Its been a while since I've driven a car on track without ABS, traction control, spin control, etc. Should be interesting.

NJMP Thunderbolt, 1:32 so far, heat soaked. We'll be in the high 1:20s soon enough. 818C, EJ20 w/VF39, 235/255 FZ201 Softs, #375/#375, some aero, STI front brakes, 4-pot rears.

It will be a fast little track car.

2.08.9 on new tires at NCM back when I had my R, super fun car.IMG_0714.jpegIMG_1066.jpeg
I built a adjustable front sway bar for the car, made a huge difference.

Thanks for that... I've been to NCM once with the Cayman; crazy track, 23 turns. You kind of go, "Its this sequence, not that other one", lol. Unfortunately it was raining heavily all day, so got no decent lap times.

I'm currently running the stock WRX sway bar since my setup is sorta track, sorta street. So far feels pretty good.
