    MK4 USRRC/FIA Radiator Angle

    In researching radiator angle so I can get the lower radiator hose length in the ballpark, I’ve seen 51 degrees listed as what the typical MK4 needs. Wondering if someone can confirm if that is the same on the USRRC 289 body.

    Hi Lars,
    The 289 radiator angle is much shallower, more like 40 degrees.

    That's what I was worried about. Do you think 40 degrees close enough to cut the hoses and do the final adjustment after the body goes on?

    Mine sits at 40. I ended up replumbing after I did the rough body fit and had all the mounting workeg out.

    Thanks Chris. I think it's time to install the body to get this dialed in. I re-read your build thread and it gave me bunch of new insights that hadn't occurred to me from reading it before I began my build.

    Use the side pieces for the nose aluminum to set your radiator angle.

    Thanks Frank. Can I do this without the body on? I was thinking I needed to have it in place to get the aluminum pieces into the correct position.

    Don't know what you are using to hold the top of the rad in place. But you should be able to use the ziptie method in the manual to bring the bottom of the rad up until the side nose aluminum fits in nicely. Don't fasten the nose aluminum in, just use it as a template to get the angle. Then if you're using an adjustable lower mount you can get it installed while the zipties hold the bottom in postion. Wait until after the body goes on after paint to permanently mount the nose aluminum.
