    Cooling Fan Not Coming On

I purchased a Ford Crate Coyote Gen 3 w/ Transmission from FFR.
Connected the Orange Fan Wire from the Ford Control Pack to the Fan and it worked fine for several weeks.

Now the Control Pack is not turning the fan on when the engine gets hot.
I have checked both fuses in the Ford Control Pack, both test good.
    The Fan test good.

Any Ideas on what the problem may be???

Maybe a bad temp sensor? Not sure which one tells the fan to come on. Have you tried jumping the fan direct to the battery to make sure its still working? Also check the ground. If this all checks out, I would call Ford racing.

The Coyote engines don't have a specific traditional coolant temperature sensor. The computer "infers" engine temp based on cylinder head temperature and other factors as I understand. If everything else checks, I agree call Ford Performance.

I talked to Ford Performance Techline today...
They said the actual coolant temp to turn the fan on is around 206.degress.
I thought that was very high and he explained the Gen 3 runs considerable higher temp and oil pressure than the gen 2.

What does your coolant temp gauge read when you fan comes on?

Mine comes on lower than that. In the 195 - 198 range. I rarely see anything over 200. Usually only in stop and go traffic on a warm day. I don't know that 206 is bad. Just not what I've experienced. Keep in mind my Gen 3 Coyote was received in August of 2018. Almost five years ago. I do have a Lund Racing tune. But they told me they don't mess with the fan settings. So how mine works is how Ford Performance first released the control pack. Very possible there have been changes since then.

Mine comes on around 200, and like Paul said not very often. Typically only when stopped and turns off pretty quick.

Most of these newer engines are made to run hotter. You’re going to get better performance and emissions(not that we care) in the over 200 range.

    Well,
As I said The Ford Performance Tech Line told me the Fan would come on @ 206 Degrees which will probably be indicated less than that on my coolant gauge.

I plugged in my OBD Scan Tool and turned on the Live Data and fired her up...
Sure enough as soon as the Scan Tool showed 206 degrees ECT (198 degrees on my dash gauge) the fan came on... and at 200 degrees ECT on the Scan Tool (190 on my gauge) the fan turned off.

I have just never seen or owned an engine with this high an operating temperature!

    Thank for the responses guys!

That's what I was going to suggest. We use Blu Driver for every first start and typically, the gauge on the dash is a few degree off or more. We consistantly see 200+ on the Gen 3 Coyote for fan activation..

Just had my Coyote Gen 3 dyno-tuned with a local mechanic. Engine is running great. However, I noticed that the radiator fan now comes on right away, even when the engine is cold. And it no longer turns off. It's controlled by the PCM. Before the tune, it came on at about 195°F and turned off at about 190F°, just like the Coyote fitment manual stated.

I attached an OBDII reader and no trouble-codes came up. Somehow, the 'inferred' engine coolant temperature is reading high enough to tell the PCM to keep the fan running. This morning I sent an email to the tuner and I hope to hear back from him within the week.

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem?
