    dizzy question

off topic dizzy question for another project/build.
I have a ford 400 that i'm rebuilding and got an HEI dizzy from Jegs.
engine has a flat tappet cam and dizzy description states that it has a steel gear and is compatible w/ flat tappet and roller cams.
I was under the impression I needed an iron gear.
the problem I'm running into is that I can't find a replacement iron gear that resembles the original gear on the dizzy. the lower shaft is 2 piece and connects w/ a roll pin.
I suppose that if it's melonized steel, it should be compatible with both.

edit: talked to tech at Jegs and he assures me that this is their drop in option for a flat tappet cam. when asked about the steel gear, he assures me that it's not a hardened or melonized steel gear and should be fine w/ a cast iron cam. maybe I just have trust issues or does anyone else suspicious?
