T-5 general question
Does anyone know how far the pilot shaft extends beyond the face of the bell housing on a world class T-5? I am working to mate a T-5 to an Oldsmobile 215 aluminum V8 to install in a bugeye sprite. I am trying to analyze and design an adaptor to make this work. Thanks!

Use a GM t5 and a SBC T5 bell and it's a bolt on.

You sure? I've been told the Olds/Buick/Pontiac and Range rover who all used the same block for the aluminum 215 V8 is a unique bell housing bolt pattern, different from the small block chevy. If it does match up it will save me a bunch of fabrication.

Just checked a small block bolt pattern against the Olds 215 block. Not even close. There were very few standard tranny cars sold with this engine and existing bellhousings are scarce. There is one company that offers a bolt up bell housing but the housing and flywhell add up to almost $2000. That's why I'm going to try and fabricate an adaptor from the Ford T-5 to the olds block.

Had one here a customer brought by we installed into a 61 Volvo 440. I will contact him and see what he used for a bell and trans because they all looked like production pieces. It may take a little bit, he's on Vaca in Alaska at the moment.

Thanks! I appreciate any help you can provide. Engine is off at the machine shop now for work so it's a little ways off.
