    New Chevy Chevelle SS Anyone?

It looks like a custom builder (Trans Am Worldwide of Tallahassee, FL) is actually going to build some of these in various power levels. For fans of the 1970 Chevelle SS, this will be a car to have, especially the 1000 hp version!

It is pretty cool. But I got admit I really don't like front of it though. Something is off and can't put my finger on what it is.

It reminds me of the SSR from 20 or so years ago. We all know how well that one went...

1000 HP is impressive, and I recognize the desire to update the design, but the original - i.e. 1970 version - didn't really need a facelift. Just my opinion.
    Mk IV Roadster - #8650 - delivered 7-17-2015 - first start 7-28-2018 - first go-kart 10-13-2018 - licensed and on the road 9-9-19: body/paint completed 3-17-2020.

I am not knowledgeable on Chevy models so I am guessing that this is a 6th Gen Camero dressed to look like a 1970 Chevelle A body. The basic proportions are not the same so the styling looks forced.
Tributes are interesting but odd for the purist.

This company does, or has done, a few different tribute cars including Trans AM and GTO versions. I also assume they are based on the Camaro chassis, but the bodies are all carbon fiber, and likely molded in house with all custom interiors. I agree the cars are smaller than the originals and have different proportions than the originals, but I don't see that as an issue. They are intended to be a modern take on the classics they resemble.

    Papa Dave,

While I'm sure the workmanship is amazing, it just doesn't make me want to drive it much less cough up Porsche Money to buy it.
I'm just not feeling it, but then again I don't particularly care for any re-bodied cars.
Thanks for posting this thread because it is interesting.

I find the Gen 6 Camaro is bigger than the original and has different proportions than the original, and I do see that as an issue. They are intended to be a modern take on the classics they resemble. The new demographic may be enthusiastic, but not the purists or me.
This represents two iterations of model proliferation with existing parts.

You know how some things put together end up more than the sum of their parts? This ain't one of them. That photo/design somehow accentuates the worst of both cars.

Interesting to see the polarizing thoughts. Like most things, they aren't for everyone. My wife thinks Porsches are the ugliest cars on the road, but I would love to have one.

Not a fan of this take on the 70 Chevelle. I really think the original design only needs a few touches here and there to bring it into today's market.

As far as Porsches go, the last one I really fell for was the 1978 911 Turbo 'whale tail'. It just looks bad and had performance to match. You also had to be able to drive that car and not be driven in it.
    My Type 65 Coupe: Ordered May 27, 2021. Arrived November 19, 2021.
I would like to treat my gas pedal as a binary operator. It would be nice to get the cooperation of everyone in front of me.

I have been apathetic about Porsches, they are well above my pay grade, and beyond that I am not a roadster guy. A couple of months ago I was invited to drive my Knoxville buddy's twin turbocharged 3.0 AWD Porsche Roadster near the "Tail of the Dragon". It was a "life event". He is a collector and enthusiast but I question if some owners realize what a technical tour de force that car is.
BTW it too does not have the proportions of the original, and the performance justifies it.
