    A9L Repair

SO after a long period of down time for repairs I went to fire the cobra up today and I have the dreaded fuel pump runs constantly so I suspect the A9L has took a dump. I opened the ECU and has the capacitor leak issue.

I know there are places that will repair this but should I just jump to a Holley system or have it repaired?

These things a scarce now so a reman is out of the question unless a fellow member has one they would sell me thats good.

    Thanks

I re-capped mine during my build. If it's really just the caps, that's honestly a pretty easy job. The worst part is scraping the rubberized "goop" off the board so the pads will take solder. If you don't think you're up to it, I'd be willing to do just the cap job for free, if you're willing to cover the round-trip shipping. PM me if you're interested and we can talk it through.

Thanks very kind of you to offer. I’ve never done a repair like that so I’d rather farm it out. I’m a long time foxbody mustang guy and I’m almost positive that’s all that’s wrong. In fact only one cap is broken away from board but the others are leaking too.

Do you have the capacitors on hand or would I need to order. I’m going to assume since you are offering to do this that it’s something you are comfortable doing or you do this type of work.

Yeah, I've been doing electronics stuff since high-school (I'm almost 45 now). I'm an extra class ham radio operator (AE5KP) and re-crystalled and capped one of my parents' old CBs to the 10m ham band, for my first ham radio. It really wouldn't be an issue. I can order the parts from Mouser and have them next-day.

I replaced the capacitors on an A9L several years ago when I restored an 89 Fox Body. It was a simple task, and I got the capacitors on Amazon. Happy to help you if you need any assistance.
Built an early MkIII years ago, sold years ago.
Got Corvettes out of my system, and now back after 18 years to build a MkIV.

I took my Ford A9L out and replaced it with the Holly Terminator X computer system. Had it Dyno tuned and could not believe how well my 302 c.i. ran with the new computer.

Still have the A9L. If interested in it, let me know what you think it is worth.
