    Are Wind Wings Necessary ?

The reason I ask is that my car does not presently have them. When I bought the car, the wings had been taken off as one of them was damaged so I have the wings and hardware but would have to replace one "wing panel". I don't really notice a lot of wind in the cockpit....but have never experienced what it's like with the wings installed.
I have been contemplating some sort of side mirrors lately.....I need to make a decision on the "necessity" of wings first. Thoughts?

I liked the wind wings on my previous cars. Worked well to sorta direct the wind around and behind me. Also worked well to direct wind into the cockpit when folded fully forward, nice when it's 104 degrees and you're baking in the sun. Wind wings and visors also help to direct rain around and over if needed but a certain amount of speed is required for the desired effect.

Downside of the wind wings in the rain is that they aim the rain at the door, windscreen and door/body gap. This is a direct line to your left leg or right if in the passenger seat. Fortunately, it doesn't "center punch" you, which looks really bad.

If I have a full windscreen, I'll have wings and visors. I might run a half-height windscreen.

Necessary no, useful yes. I had them and they can be used to direct outside wind around both the passenger and driver. The sun visors are in the same category and I had them too. Many are designed where their mounting does not require drill and tapping holes.

Agree with Jim1855 & Alan_C. Also the wings don't preclude you from having mirrors. There are some that work with them in the aftermarket.

Thanks. I’ve also been considering adding them both.

I've got the wind wings and love them.
I even have very period correct looking mirrors that work great too.
What I have on my car are for a 356 Porsche and you can get them in flat or convex mirror types so check them out.

Here is an old video, just before body and paint work, that you can see how they look on the car with the wind wings.

Good Luck & I Hope This Helps!

Yes. Doubt if will ever regret the decision to have them.
