Coupe IRS LCA mounting questions
When mounting the lower control arms on the IRS...
1) Looking at the manual it says to put 3 shims on the front of the rod end of the front bolts. Maybe a stupid question, but do I add shims to the rear side of the rod end on the front bolt also? It doesn't say that, but I can't imagine not filling the space...
2) for understanding, is the rod end the bearing surface (so the bolt and shims capture it)? That would make more sense than the bolt being the bearing surface, and the rod end rotating around it. It is a bit concerning that the bolt threads are into the rod end... Longer bolt and washers?
3) should, and if so with what, the rod end be lubricated?
Thanks!

Hi Eric,
The Rod Ends should have spacers on both sides of them in order to prevent side to side movement between the control arm mounting tabs. The Rod Ends can function correctly even when they are pivoting on the thread portion of the bolt, but you could get a bolt with a longer shoulder on it if you want to have it pivot on a flat surface. The Rod Ends are Teflon lined, so no additional lubrication is required.
Thanks
