    Z06 front Brakes all around

I am currently at the first stages of my GTM and I am wondering since the weight is 60 back 40 front would Z06 6 Piston Front Brakes all around be a good idea? Would look stellar.

I was just reading a thread on the corvetteforum that was talking about putting c5 ft calipers on the rear of a c5. Sounds like a good idea!! with a minor amount of work.

It will work just fine on the GTM...I'm not so sure why you would do it on a Vette though.

It won't work if you want to retain your ebrake. Pretty sure the drum is built into the rear disc. I could be wrong though

The e-brake issue can be fixed by using a c6 rear caliper and a mod to the caliper mount.

Scott. The point was to use front calipers on the rear though? Maybe use the stoc rear disc and move the caliper in to compensate

Sorry I miss typed, you can use the c5 ft caliper on the rear and use a c6 z51 rear rotor, with a mod to the c5 caliper brkt. This will allow the use of the c5 ebrake.

I'm no expert just something I found, that I thought was interesting.

    Hi Scott,

I used the C6 Big Brake kit on my GTM: 6 piston Front, and 4 piston Rears. I can tell you without any doubt what so ever, that these are all the brakes that you'll ever need on the GTM. I switched out the master cyclinders, (including the clutch), to a 5/8" bore. This gave the brakes a much nicer feel, and allowed a perfect throw for the clutch pedal.

The finished car is only 2300 to 2500 lbs, depending on what you add to the build. Lots of power, very little weight... It doesn't take a whole lot to lock up the brakes.

Big 6 piston brakes in the front, and Big stopping power for the GTM.

Rear Brakes. 4 Piston with emergency brake in the drum of the rotor, and they work great. Holds the car solid. I've put the car on my driveway, (which is pretty steep), and the brake holds it in place.

I really feel that these brakes are all you'll need for a strong and solid street car.

    Take Care Buddy!

Ive done this on my C5 Vette and it works great. Retained my rear parking brake by using rotors from the Bear + 14" rear brake kit for the C5..It made a huge difference in stopping power with heavy my oversized rear tires and 832rwhp... Plan on using the same setup on my GTM..Mainly for looks on the GTM though..The 14" rotors in the back look great..

Stig: will the 18" rims that FFr sells fit around the C6 brakes? or will I have to hunt down 19s or 20s?

I now have the FFR rims and the C6 Z06 brakes, this combination works!
