A few weeks ago, Ezra Dyer from Automobile Magazine came by with the McLaren and we spent the day driving around local roads with that car and the GTM. If you guys get a chance, leave some comments since Yahoo gauges interest based on that as one metric.

Gary always gets the cool gigs... Way to go Buddy!

I like the McLaren, but I have to say, sitting next to the GTM, it looks very tame. The GTM is lower, wider, and probably a bit longer. For your 300k, you get an extremely refined road car. But it has been described in various magazine articles as being so good that the took the fun away from it. Is that possible?

    This is a cool piece.

In other words, Mad dog is saying leave some comments on the yahoo page.

Personally Id rather have my GTM then the mclaren.

If sombody offered to trade me a mclaren for my unfinished GTM I would turn them down. I place more value on the statment "I made it" then I have enough money to buy it.

    But thats me.

Nice job Gary and Factory Five.

Definitely a nice job. Excellent and well deserved exposure for the GTM.

I guess you have to register on Yahoo in order to comment...

Maybe later. I have so many different ID's and passwords it's hard to keep up.

How did the "journalist" spend a full quarter of the video talking about how the dash switches on the MP4-12C are custom to McLaren (and not from a Ford Focus!), and then neglect to show the dash panel of the GTM? The only thing you would recognize on the dash of my FFR is the rally chronograph from a LearJet (Davtron M811B, for those who might recognize it).

For a video comparing two exotic cars, a comparison of performance stats should have been the bare minimum.

If you ask me, this video gave FFR the shaft.

While I see your point, here's another perspective...

When I was in high school I drove a 4X4 Toyota pickup. One night I got into a little "thing" some people might have seen as a "street race". Term used very loosely since I was in the mentioned 4X4 and the other guy was in a 5.0 Mustang. It went on for quite awhile, and in the end he drove past me on the freeway with his one finger salute to me. I just laughed. The funny part was that he was even "racing" me in a 2 liter 4X4 truck, and until we got to the freeway, HE WAS LOSING! That one experience gave me some pretty good perspective on many things in the future.

So the point is that while it may not have been a really good comparison, the fact that a "journalist" thought it appropriate to compare...even for 30 seconds... a $200k+ car to a GTM says something. It says that the GTM is REALLY good, considering the price differentials.

So for me, anytime someone wants to use the term "GTM" in the same breath as "Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren, etc" more power to them!!

I just wish they kept in the section of when he came back from when I let him drive my car and he came out from behind the wheel all fired up with how much he liked it.

I agree. Comparing the new McLaren to the F1 is like comparing the new Lotus cars to the Esprit Turbo... Too much bland tea for the Brits, I guess....
