Thanks guys. Perfect explanation! It also explains why most aftermarket motorcycle fuel controllers run in open loop and perform very well.

I have been busy with other stuff lately. Today I finally got to work on the 818 some. I fixed my temp and fuel gauges. The 2 Blk/Wht wires out of C conn. from the cluster were not hooked to ground as they should be. Simple fix. I ran the engine and had some idle issues. I had some vacuum leaks and a stuck IACV. Still idles about 1250 need to look further into this deal. The fans come on at 90 degree C and off at 87. Engine has unreal throttle response. If it runs half as good as it sounds I am going to be a happy man! Waynes kit is the bomb!
I had to modify my alt. setup. I needed to remove it and could not get the long bolt out with my firewall. I ended up taping the mount and using 2 10-1.5 bolts. I am trying to make the wiring as neat as possible in the engine bay. Like a dope I cut the crank sensor wires to the TecS. Wayne came to my rescue. I realy felt like a dope. ( I came clean Wayne! Inside joke!) LOL. I guess God has a way of Making us humble now and then. Hope to work on the wiring some more this weekend. BBall and Football will eat up some time as well as wife's Doc visits. Here is some photos

Did you clean it out with gasoline? I usually invert it and fill it with gas, let it soak and then qtip it. I always have 2 or 3 IAC gaskets on had because they are shot once you take them out.

I guess I should replace it. It seemed fine when I cleaned the IAC.

I was able to fix my goof-up. I got most of the engine wires done and hoses now. All that is left is the carbon cannister and speedo sensor. Here is some pics. Hard to find time to work on the 818 lately. Other matters pressing.

Yea I figure I may have some adjusting to do. I do not have it bolted down yet. I may have to lay it down more with custom brackets.

I was able to hook up my speedo sensor and make it work today. I finished up covering my wires in the engine bay area. I finished up my E-Brk as well. I like the Lokar one much better than the donor JMO. I plan to finish up wires in the dash area and align the go-cart. Maybe test drive by this weekend.

Was the lokar E-brake a kit? Just a handle? Where did you get it?

Tom and I both put the Lokar handle in our cars and it's just the handle. Tom center mounted his handle on a plate he made and used the FFR suppled cable mount/rear tunnel aluminum. I set mine offset toward the passenger, built a low cable mount and did custom aluminum with the Lokar brake boot w/bezel.

I got it from Summit. I also ordered the boot for it. It is just a handel. I modified it using the stock cable holder and a 1/4-20 threaded rod from the handel to the cable holder. This way it is adjustable. Don't forget to adjust your rear brake shoes properly first.

    Tom,

Everything looks great so far! How did you bend your rear firewall aluminum back straight? Did you take it to somewhere who has a large brake?

    Thanks!

I think you might be confusing his custom firewall on the inside of the engine bay with the FFR supplied firewall that is on the inside of the cabin. A few of us made firewalls to separate the fuel tank area from the engine area.

I think Jerome was asking about the thick panel of the rear firewall being bent to fit the Boyd tank. I had a metal shop bend the upper panel an additional 20 degrees. Jerome, I'll PM you the shop contact info in Mesa.

I did it the lazy way: Traced it onto cardboard, then made it from sheet metal.

I cut a relief in the back side of the bend with a cutoff wheel and then bent it on a table with some clamps. Then I stitch welded it every 3" on the back side for strength.

Well I got it ready to go cart today. My wife took the video of me going just up and down my drive. Sorry the video does not show how fast this thing is. Wayne that TecS and program is awesome. This is the quickest car I ever drove. Very snappy and accelaration is not to be believed. All I can say is Wow!
I hit 100 MPH in a very short space. It almost blew my hair off. LOL.
I started on my console. Aligned front and back using tiles and lazer level. Hope you enjoy the video.

Here is some photos of the dash and start of the console. Also how I aligned the wheels. I was happy with no leaks and a good go-cart day. This car is going to be a blast to drive when it is done. It really needs a muffler though. I need to figuire something out for it once I mount the body.

Nice job, lets get some in car video of you going down that drag strip, I mean your driveway. You have a lot of nice parts on your build, it shows that everything was thought through.

How long did it take you from the day you started your build to the day you drove the car in that video?
Actually I guess I can find out by the dates on your posts.

After a sucessful go-cart ride I started on the center console. I am just using it for 3 gauges. I'll cover the whole center console with carpet and vinyl both black. My whole interior will be black vinyl and black carpet. I will mount radio in dash on Passenger side. Not sure where the speakers will go yet.

In that case on the bar behind the seat. My seats are low enough to do this IMO.

The trick here when you accelerate hard is to brake hard just before the liquid pours towards you and then you accelerate hard again just before the liquid pours towards the front and again and again you see the point.
