My significant other and myself just got back from a quick trip to New York. My sister lives on Long Island. What amazed me was the changes to the trip.....oh.... we drove. When I drove down about twenty years ago it was an eighteen hour drive. With all the road improvements the trip took us 13.5 hours. That's Halifax to Long Island New York without speeding by more than 10%. The new highways in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are incredible and cut so much time off the trip!

We went down for my brother in-law's birthday. Funny story from the party. They had a quite average guy singing karaoke style for the party. Someone asks if their 15 year-old daughter can sing along. So this kid gets up there with a guitar and I'm waiting for the assault on my ears of "Happy Birthday." The kid starts playing the guitar and I pretty much had to pick my jaw off the floor. This fifteen year-old girl sang three of her own songs and sounded as good as any singer I've heard.

I know I'll see this kid on TV some day. I'll try to get a video and post it.
