In keeping with MY direction that the guys stay plugged in to customers on this forum, I spose I should be the one to answer this personally since I'm the one who made the original decision on the interiors. Plus, the guys are putting the rear diffuser on the car!

The short story is that Mark Dunsford from the UK (company making the interiors) emailed yesterday that we will have the parts in 7-10 days. If that sounds easy, it belies the history of this part, for which I will take personal responsibility for. The reason more folks havent complained is likely the fact that the interior is installed later in the build, so, unlike the transmission, it is not urgent.

When we pulled the wraps off our new 2nd Gen GTM last year at Open House, and went to production shortly afterwards, it was without the new interiors. We had a prototype set and yet estimates on getting the production parts in were 3-6 months (that would later turn out to be 8 months! ugh). To be fair to the guys here (EVERYONE) I felt very strongly that the new GTM HAD to have a hand-stitched interior upgrade and I was NOT willing to hold off the launch since everything else in-house was so ready (jigs, new molds, etc). Everyone was warning me that this could happen. The big delay came in the form of a dimensional change (mistake) where we had to go back and change the size of some dash parts that underlay the covering. These are injection molded parts and had it not been for that change, I would have been right.

Bottom line is that I made the call (like the mendeola transmissions) and those two items in the Gen 2 project were much longer than estimated. The car is better for it and when guys are driving their cars they will be gald they have the new parts, but the wait has been excruciating and I do apologize huge for that. We have about 25 guys waiting and I think, 50 sets on their way for next week.

    Dave,
Thank you. I'm still getting use to "The President" personally comunicating to his customers. Confirming my disicision for the GTM over a some what similar choice. Keep doing what you do.

In addition to those who have been waiting, will you have units in stock for deliveries in May? Or do you need to batch order again with the wait?
Will the next wait be this long?
    Thanks

I think the 18th was the date to get some of the parts on their way from England. Do you (Factory Five Dudes) know if this happened? I getting close to painting, I was hoping to have seats in before I put the body back on.

You guys need to understand, FFR had no idea that all the seamstressers had to stop on our interiors to work on Kate Middleton's dress.

Thanks Patti for the update on the Gen 2 GTM interior. Do we know if the new Gen 2 GTM Diffuser spacers, etc have been shipped out?
Also, are we still tracking on the time frame Dave Smith outlined for the Mendeola Transaxles in Mid May?

    Thanks,
    Radkat

I have two questions for the Factory Five guys.

I am just about to paint the body and should have it back on in about two weeks. Will I be able to install the dash and other parts we are still waiting on with the body on?

On the 20th we expected to seats to ship on the 24th. What is the word from England? Did they get out?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Patti,
Thanks for the update. I do have a question. What are the 25 kit numbers for the first interior parts run? Really what I'm asking is kit#331 in that 25? Thanks.

The interiors arrived TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got rained out at work (Doing an outside shoot for "Nuns in Hot Leather 2" where I play Father Erection) so when I got an email from Patti I drove down. They were worth the wait! These parts are worlds better in quality than the Gen 1 stuff that I used to get reupholstered. I was gonna go with aluminum door panels on my KONI GTM but after seeing these I am gonna go ahead and use them.

    Gary,
Thanks for the picture. Is the extra material at the rear of the center console there to cover the gap between it and the engine cover?

My seats arrive tomorrow and my interior arrives on Monday...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    K,
Mine don't arrive until tomorrow. So I have a quick question. Do the bottom cushions pop out to ease the install or are the material one piece like the Gen1 Seat?

They are a one piece cover. The bottom cushion opens up but will not allow access for installation. I assume is to be able to replace the bottom foam. Here are better pictures.
