The dash looks great!!! (along with the rest of the car obviously), looks like the door panels are covered similar. Can you elaborate on source and spec for those materials? Thanks for sharing your build with those of us following!

Nice. Maybe this will motivate FFR to get the door liners finished up. I'm guessing they'll be wrapped like the dash?

Not to beat a dead horse, but as it been on the dyno YET?

I just started working on the door panels last night and they were not on the car for the pics. The dash and doors are wrapped with a black vinyl and black carbon weave fabric.

No dyno, that will be after SEMA.

I had a similar idea. Do you mind sharing the brand [of materials] and source?

Sorry but I'm at the Historic races at Savannah Thur-Sun, dropped the car off to have it cut and buffed and the door panels at the upholstery guy and will pick both up Mon morning.

The car looks great. Lots of attention was paid to the details.
Wayne, time wise how many hours would it take to build a 818?

Wayne, just the average builder, don't tell us how long it takes you, it will just make us feel inferior.
Most of us measure 6 times, test fit 3 time, hesitate to cut anything, spend a weekend adjusting suspension, do brake lines 3 times, take the motor in and out 4 times.
Wayne can do all this in his sleep.

Ok, you can tell us, I'll just close my eyes.

Well, it seems to me that FFR has been suggesting 200-250 hrs for a builder with reasonable skills. But I figure it's going to take me 500.

I'd say that I could build the car in about 150 hours, not counting paint and body work. A nice white one

I think a lot of it depends on how far you want to go with it. I have hours and hours spent cleaning up parts to better than brand new OEM. If I just unbolted hubs and bolted them onto an 818 I would have saved much time.

The car does go together very well (well, once FFR fixed the early issues) and with many builds before you, most troublesome spots have been identified with solutions documented.

Several people have asked you to post info on the dash material, which you have ignored. I would then assume its secretive and proprietary or just don't want other people to copy what you have done. Interesting.

Or he missed it? Or was too busy getting ready for SEMA to look up the information (my money's on this one)? Wayne's been very forthcoming about, well, pretty much everything. I don't think he'd purposely ignore something. If he didn't want to say, I think he'd probably just say he didn't want to say.

Didn't he say it was part fabric and part something else?

Only 12-14 hours a day for the last 10 days getting an engine in a Lotus and finishing the 818 for SEMA and travelling to Savannah for 5 days for the Historic races there. I got the fabric 4 years ago for the X-terminator dash from my local upholstery and do not know the source or brand of the fabric.

Yes I did Frank, it's a vinyl fabric with CF texture. Nothing special, purchased at a local upholstery store.

So the dash fabric question has been answered 6 times now. J.R., you owe an apology.
