Wayne, Super nice job. I hope I'll be able to build one also. Again Great job. 818 Dennis
The dash looks great!!! (along with the rest of the car obviously), looks like the door panels are covered similar. Can you elaborate on source and spec for those materials? Thanks for sharing your build with those of us following!

Wayne,
Thanks for posting pictures of your soon to be AWARD WINNING 818S next to your Lotus Elise!
Have fun at SEMA
Nice. Maybe this will motivate FFR to get the door liners finished up. I'm guessing they'll be wrapped like the dash?
Not to beat a dead horse, but as it been on the dyno YET?

Wayne it looks amazing great job. Just out of curiosity why didn't you use the rims that you had in your very first post on this thread?

Take a bow sir, take a bow. Very nice.
The doors look like they would be very receptive of a VCP logo on them
thanks for making me depressed that it's going to take me 5+ years to make my 818 this nice on my college budget haha! i love the paint job, i never liked any kind of orange on a car but you definitely changed my opinion!
Thanks guys, I'll get some interior shots Monday

Thanks for pics with Lotus Wayne.
The car looks great. Lots of attention was paid to the details.
Wayne, time wise how many hours would it take to build a 818?
FFR is saying 150 if I recall correctly.
Wayne, just the average builder, don't tell us how long it takes you, it will just make us feel inferior.
Most of us measure 6 times, test fit 3 time, hesitate to cut anything, spend a weekend adjusting suspension, do brake lines 3 times, take the motor in and out 4 times.
Wayne can do all this in his sleep.
Ok, you can tell us, I'll just close my eyes.

I'd say that I could build the car in about 150 hours, not counting paint and body work. A nice white one

I think a lot of it depends on how far you want to go with it. I have hours and hours spent cleaning up parts to better than brand new OEM. If I just unbolted hubs and bolted them onto an 818 I would have saved much time.
The car does go together very well (well, once FFR fixed the early issues) and with many builds before you, most troublesome spots have been identified with solutions documented.

Several people have asked you to post info on the dash material, which you have ignored. I would then assume its secretive and proprietary or just don't want other people to copy what you have done. Interesting.
J. R.
Or he missed it? Or was too busy getting ready for SEMA to look up the information (my money's on this one)? Wayne's been very forthcoming about, well, pretty much everything. I don't think he'd purposely ignore something. If he didn't want to say, I think he'd probably just say he didn't want to say.

Answered in post 562,"Dash got dropped off with CF fabric on top and black on the face"
Answered again in post 564, " Originally Posted by 07FIREBLADEWhat type of cf material are you using? 3m dinoc wrap or something similar?

I fail to see how the question has been ignored since that was one page ago.
Only 12-14 hours a day for the last 10 days getting an engine in a Lotus and finishing the 818 for SEMA and travelling to Savannah for 5 days for the Historic races there. I got the fabric 4 years ago for the X-terminator dash from my local upholstery and do not know the source or brand of the fabric.
Yes I did Frank, it's a vinyl fabric with CF texture. Nothing special, purchased at a local upholstery store.
So the dash fabric question has been answered 6 times now. J.R., you owe an apology.

Wait.. I noticed some sort of carbon fiber material on the dash. Wayne what is this stuff?
I think it's fabric. Hopefully it's on the door panels too.
The dash is certainly cool!
