Is the seat mounted yet? The harness openings look much more in line with the bar behind it.

Did you have the same issues with having to remove some minor ancillary items to get it to fit? Any reason you went motor trans first vs Erik's method of suspension then motor?

If im not mistake you should be able to turn abs off via pulling the fuse, or flipping a switch (if installed) without effecting the braking system correct? I would install abs and have a switch in an at least semi hidden place. It's looking good

I'm running ABS to see if it will work and how well it works. Why not, its free with the donor...

The seat is just sitting in the car and I don't know if that is the seat I'm going to use. I put the engine in first because the motor will not be in the way of the suspension install but the suspension will be in the way of the motor install.

Why would I want to turn off the ABS when I could just not install it???

Vary cool build thread there Mr. Very Cool Parts!!

Although I am not building an 818, I really enjoy watching your and Erik's build. You all are really humming along and doing some awesome work! Thanks for keeping us updated. I respect how much effort it must take while also trying to run a business and build a car. It is quite selfless! Thanks!

Please keep us posted; it is really awesome...

    Regards,

    Steve

I guess you got a point to try to use the abs, I'm not but it might be a good feature. I too will put the engine in first, I am pulling my headers etc, which is on my build thread. I just got home from stripping a donor since 3:30am

It's actually gone together fairly uneventfully to this point. I'm trying out a different build schedule than Erik to see which is the more efficient order of build.

Yes, I tried with them on and it was just a little more snug than I wanted to deal with so I popped the headers off

Yea that might be a good idea, I like the noise of the engine though, but it might help with slight rattles and creeks, plus some help dramatically with heat

    Wayne,

    What are these items?
And is the piece round thing that looks like it is copper striped flat up against the block? I think somewhere in this area is where I have a pretty major leak. I'll post some pictures of mine.

That is a water to oil heat exchanger, they seem to leak from there but I have now really looked into a solution other than some Three Bond (Yamabond, Hondabond, etc.) on the O-ring.

That pic reminds me. There's probably quite a few people who would love to know the distance from the front of the crank pulley to the frame rail.

    Awww yeah!

Is that an aftermarket boxster shift mechanism or something you whipped up yourself.

Edit: I'm dumb. I was too absorbed by the pics to read anything.

So now you have to leave the boot off....can't cover that up, as it's too cool. Maybe design an inverted boot to go underneath.....lol.

It is actually their newest shifter (not the RSX box) that was released last Friday, I'll have a kit for the 818 with cables. It will mate up with the FFR trans brackets and arms. And it will be mounted just like you see, billet out in the open. I just can't see putting a boot over it.

That K-Tuned shifter is striking mechanical art. Thank you for bringing it together for us.

Here is a video I found describing the RSX version (not the same but you get the general idea):

    This looks like Wayne's shifter:

So this is not a FFR shifter it's K-Tuned?
What are the specs? How short the throw, precision, sound, etc...

I've never seen one looking that good (apart from the Pagani's shifter linkage or is it Spkyer's? Damn I can't recall).

Well I try to cut on my total cost, but WTH, here goes another 430 bucks loll

I viewed the video. Son of a B this thing has been well designed. The sounds looks amazing and that is on video not installed on any car.

I cannot imagine anyone installing a boot over that, that is like buying a Ferrari and swapping a Toyota Corolla engine in it.

How can you properly adjust that cable stopper? I mean do you have to run the engine and see when the gear engages? Or engine shut off it's sufficient?
